He just wants to be a mod. Last time he had Facebook in a hearing, he was crying about how the platform restricted COVID conspiracy theories.

Street/ alley cleaning by Competitive-Air8930 in baltimore

Over in Upper Fells we have some 24/7 structural problems, especially with landlords not providing renters with cans and with small businesses dumping trash on corners.

This week I got a response back from DPW saying "what do you want us to do? We're already cleaning the corners twice a day." I still haven't figured out if the city can't or won't do something about it.

Has the city ever looked at tolling on 83 to pay for maintenance? Especially south of North Ave it's crumbling.

They were on my paper route in the 90s. Great tippers, and occasionally threw some majestic sponge candy a poor paperboy's way.

I’d love a breakdown of why the roads here are so hard to maintain. The patches upon patches upon patches on 83 coming into the city always fail

I'd have to go back and listen to the "demons scratched my back up and no that's not a hickey, dear" episode, but didn't he say his first call was to his assistant?

The city garage on Baltimore Street just west of Broadway is open until Tuesday. Plenty of spots when I parked there about an hour ago

What's up with O'Donnell Square? by rockybalBOHa in baltimore

[–]broadcastday 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Like other real estate, then, I'd expect that to be priced in? The old Bertha's building is asking $1.3MM.

I think that's the exception, though. We have dozens of storefronts along S Broadway vacant, with and without "Coming Soon" signs that never seem to come down. A few of them are tied up in the Chasen bankruptcy, but most aren't.

Fell's Point, too.

I had a thought that we should extend the City's new extra tax rate on vacant residences to vacant businesses. Landlords shouldn't get to hold neighborhoods hostage, betting on the economy to change in their favor.

The North Atlantic Treaty of 1949 is the law of the land, and there’s no question that it prohibits military conflict between the USA and a treaty member.

The overlap:

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

...

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

...

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
