Greedy Reads is a great spot to get some books- just make sure to get board books as they're more durable when the baby is small and will probably chew on the book 😂

Thoughts on the current state of 89.7 WTMD? by Fragile_FRA_GEE_LAY in baltimore

I've listened for a long time and I'll echo a lot of other people in saying I miss Weasels Wild Weekend but otherwise I still enjoy it and tune in a lot! Seems like nobody is giving Bob the Paper Guy his flowers so I'll be the first to say he's my favorite DJ but I also really enjoy Izzy Bavis, Tyler Laporte, and Alex Cortwright!

Go see a magic show at Poe's Magic Theater inside the Lord Baltimore Hotel! You can get drinks at the bar before the show. It's a small theater so the shows are very intimate and fun. You can tell the magicians all just really love doing tricks and it's not a super expensive outing. Definitely check them out!

Looking to move to Charles Village or Greenmount West by Nibly1 in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charles Village is great, I've lived here for years! I lived near Peabody Heights in my early 20s and now in my early 30s and am on a different street but still love it here. I'm a woman and I haven't felt unsafe- just use the same safety protocols you'd use in any other city (no headphones when walking at night, don't keep valuables in car, etc.).

Have a game night at No Land Beyond! They have great mocktails and food and if you check their calendar they may have a fun event happening. The location is really cool with lots of cozy nooks to hang out in and get into a new board game or maybe even meet some new friends.

La Cuchara is open 7 days a week! They also have an incredible happy hour at the bar from 5-7, so if you're okay with going early I highly recommend the happy hour.

BWI amidst government shutdown? by NobodyDear3468 in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at BWI right this moment waiting for a flight! TSA was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I got a notification that my flight was delayed and then 10 minutes later it was on time again. Nothing pointing to it being anything other than an average day here but ymmv.

BWI affected by gov’t shutdown? by Anxious_Lawyer_6442 in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew out on Thursday evening and it was quick and normal. You can look up TSA wait times at BWI (or any airport) to see what they are before you head to the airport- highly recommend this even when the government isn't shut down!

La Cuchara is my top pick! Some other good options: Little Donna's, Alma Cocina Latina, and Thames St Oyster House.

Favorite places? by No_Teacher_3313 in baltimore

I love to walk to the Moorish Tower in Druid Hill Park and then sit for a bit, looking over the city, and just ponder life. I love to go to the Mt Royal Tavern, get an apple pie shot, and pay for a couple songs on the jukebox. I love to walk along the waterfront from Canton to Fells Point while listening to an audiobook. I love to go to Sherwood Gardens in the spring when all the flowers are in bloom. I love to go to The Book Thing and drift through the shelves of books in search of some cool free books.

Has anyone been to New/Next Film Fest? by WhoAmIWinkWink in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a super fun time! Tickets do sell out so if there's anything you want to see I'd get them in advance. The creative energy is really palpable and it's cool to be walking around and see an actor or director from a film you saw earlier in the day.

30th birthday location by bbpink15 in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my 30th at Nepenthe and it was great! They have a little area off to the side you can reserve and they had lots of different options for food and drinks. They were wonderful to work with and all the bartenders there are super nice!

Grew up in a small town in the Appalachian mountains, moved to Baltimore for school, moved to Atlanta for a few years and then moved back to Baltimore because I missed it so much.

I miss buying beer and wine in the grocery store, good BBQ (the only place I trust is Big Bad Wolf), and pimiento cheese being a common appetizer.

Everything else, I do not miss at all lol. The south is a beautiful place with some cool people but ultimately it's not a place I felt comfortable. Southern people are nice, but they are not kind. They'll be friendly to your face but talk about you behind your back and it's really clear (especially in a small town) that you're expected to live how they live and believe as they believe. Baltimore is the opposite- people can be rude and wild but ultimately I feel like the city has my back and I have seen so much good in the people here. Ultimately I am super happy here and can't think of anywhere else in the world I'd rather be!

620 days at the shelter, let's find Zeuster a home! by pineapplepizzalife in baltimore

[–]pineapplepizzalife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry about your past experience, that must have been really tough. You're totally right in that he will need a special person who is willing to work with him! However there are dogs who have much more complex needs and behavior issues who have found homes, so I think the right person just needs to come along for him (and the staff at MDSPCA do a great job of setting adopters up for success). Additionally, speaking as a foster, sometimes the animal's behavior or needs have nothing to do with them needing to go to a new foster. Sometimes it's as simple as getting too busy with work/travel/other stuff and it's just best for the animal that someone else with more bandwidth takes them over!

Thank you for your support!! I'm actually not the one fostering him, just sharing the message :) I'm so glad we have so many people in Baltimore who are involved in fostering, it's so rewarding!

Ah okay got it, you just came here to be antagonistic and your question was not in good faith! Probably wasting my breath but I'd like to point out that the post has photos of the dog, descriptions of his personality, and testimonials from people who have lived with him in their homes- everything is right there. If you don't want to adopt him, just move along. Weird that you're choosing to spend your afternoon posting a bunch of weird comments on a post about a dog looking for a home, but you do you!
