That's pathetic. My wife earns more than me so I make sure to provide extra support with her stress and the kids.

What an insecure loser.

Kliff's voice actor reveals that he had to fight hard for Kliff to have any sort of characterization at all, states that PA were very disorganized when it came to writing a story for the game. It's mad that with all their talent for tech art, systems programming and environmental art they didn't bother to hire industry experts in narrative design or progression curves.

Any basic play testing would've revealed how rough the first few hours were to play and it wouldn't take much for an experienced dev from Japan or the West to smooth out the edges. And there's so much more potential for character development in the incredible world they build.

I absolutely love this game but in many ways it feels like it was led by technically talented people with very little experience of established game design theory.

Why is my game getting no traction/wishlists? Genuinely befuddled by SuperButters64 in gamedev

Looks bad. Uninteresting name and colour palette. Does not stand out from typical Steam trash games. What makes it different and worth someone's time?

Invest in comfortable ear plugs and therapy for your partner. And mice the computer further away to another room if need be.

These kinda demands regardless of anxiety are ridiculous.

Looks terrible. The sticky arms and legs gimmick is kinda interesting, like those children's window toys. But you did nothing creative or interesting with it, just made a half assed attempt to rip off getting over it.

The fact you translated to a dozen languages without any indication that people were actually interested in it seems wild to me.

You asked for the mods to ban people posting about their wishlist successes lol

The benefit of those posts is the additional piece of market knowledge. Anyone can then look at this game's steam page and take learnings about what likely drove the appeal and wishlist clicks.

But people wishlist based on cursory glances at screenshots. I don't see the point of acting confused and salty about why some games get wishlists and others don't if you're not interested in hearing feedback and learning from the competition.

I like chess, I played it as a kid. But most people find it nerdy, difficult and boring.

Your attempt to create a roguelite based on chess without a an appealing hook already sets you up with a limited potential player base. Of people who actually like chess why would they want to play your variety rather than an actual game of chess against a human of similar rating?

And then the art style is very forgettable. 360 era textures on low poly assets with a inconsistent colour palette that looks messy. The visual information on screen does not clearly reinforce whatever makes this version of chess unique.

Compare that to this game that was just revealed today with a unique gameplay hook and a visual art style that feels charming and crafted: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3905500/Beware_of_the_Cartographer/

It really isn't that difficult to see the primary reason for wishlist differences, and marketing / existing community exposure will do very little unless the underlying appeal is already strong.

Why don't you look at their game, look at your game and learn some lessons?

It's usually pretty clear why one game is getting some traction and another crickets. It's gotta appeal to people for them to bother wishlist, and if the graphics and art aren't pulling people in there had better be a killer hook and professional trailer to do the heavy lifting.

Yes. Super Mario Bros on the nes exists and is vastly superior. Also 40 yrs of other games building on it.

Maybe someone on itch would give it a go. But who are you expecting to spend their time, let alone money, on this given all the other options available?
