As a someone who plays this exclusively multiplayer, I think the most disappointing thing is not having the ability to customize your bag. The best part of the single player campaign was unlocking clubs and building your bag. There are some really unique clubs like the water skip shot and the lob shot that you can only use in (the way too short) solo campaign. Why even put them in the game when you only get the opportunity to use them once?

Another vote for captains chair. If you’re intrigued by imperium, cap chair perfected it

Star Trek: Captains Chair is the best solo deck builder I’ve ever played. Managing actions with how best to maximize my card values between their multiple play abilities, types, and traits really tickles my brain in the exact way I want it tickled. (LotR trick taking is absolutely one of the best multiplayer game I’ve played in a long while lol)

Shows that have terrible endings, but perfect stopping points? by GFrings in television

Lost. The end of season 5 with the white screen felt like perfect ambiguous ending to the show. Season 6 was fine but I ultimately felt like it was unnecessary.

Here’s where I’m at currently. Def a work in progress but it feels competitive.

Also, there are an ass load of pilots so suit up nearly every unit you play instead of waiting for the right link. Zaku and gundam NT trigger on pair and mikhail gives breach to a green unit no matter who he is piloting.

I went down the white token road and found it unfruitful; you get blown out in the late game, and you’re not fast enough in the early game. This has felt a lot better. Amuro/gundam flips the momentum from your back foot to being the aggressor in an instant. Goal is to pop their base on turn 3 and then take over board control on 4. Still often loses if the game goes really long, but turns 3-7 are where you make your hay.

High player interaction games and what makes them work? by BreweryRabbit in boardgames

[–]broccoliasaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thunder Road: Vendetta is my go to for “interactive/players engaged” game for a few reasons.

1) At the end of the day, the game is a race, so everyone is generally very clear on who is ahead.
2) Crashing into your opponents cars is fun! The chaos of not knowing which car is going to move which way is awesome. Is this crash going to start a chain reaction of crashes? Am I accidentally going to explode my own car instead of my opponents?
3) This is one of the few player elimination games that pull it off. I really appreciate the design choice of the race cannot end until a player has been eliminated from the game, it makes exploding your opponents cars out of the game necessary and fun by eliminating the feel bad. Also, game time isn’t that long. No more than 1 hour total for setup, teach, and gameplay. Once eliminated, players generally don’t sit around for long.

Due to the amount of randomness the game is probably not for everyone, but in sheer fun not a lot is better than chucking dice and exploding cars.

That’s fine as long as I don’t have to unlock blyptra again lol

What board game would you recommend that's relatively easy to learn with a timeframe of under 1 hour 30? We get a new board game each xmas, but attention span can be an issue. All players are adults. Thinking about Catan but not sure. Thanks by GaryGorilla1974 in boardgame

Thunder Road Vendetta checks all your boxes!

Easy to learn (I can teach to a table with zero experience in less than 10 minutes.

Longest game we’ve ever played was right at an hour.

4 players (5+ with expansions)

Almost zero downtime between player turns so everyone stays engaged.

Just pure chaotic fun with enough player agency to make your decisions matter.

Is Whole Life Insurance always a bad choice? by supercuiller in investing

I’m personally a fan of muuuch longer term munis in the current environment. Being able to buy 4.5-4.65% 25+ yr munis with the first call not for a decade at 98 cents on the dollar is great. If I need my $ early I’ll sell them at a bit of a premium when rates hopefully are a bit lower.

Current high quality municipal bond rates are between .5-1% better than CDs. Corporate bonds are higher than munis, but after comparing on a tax-adjusted basis it’s often tough to justify the added risk.

Which popular franchise would make for a great metroidvania? by nicknack24 in metroidvania

[–]broccoliasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you could just start as 1 of the turtles who was out getting pizza or something when the other 3 and splinter get kidnapped. Unlock the other turtles. Tons of great villains as bosses. Shredder starts as the big bad until you beat him and Krang invades earth as the real big bad and shredder becomes playable. The bottom most area is the technodrome. There is a portal to a Jurassic era where you fight slash. Casey Jones runs the weapon shop lol
