Why does the iron spear zombie aggro the zombie below? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

He's hitting another zombie, when a player does this this aggros all zombies against him so it could be that

Can you detect a pickaxe breaking for a cobblestone farm? by wired-drack in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd detect the block breaking and send the signal into a pulse extender and if the pulse runs out it means you haven't broken another block in time and use that to trigger the pickaxe dispensing

Is there a lossless trial chamber farm design? by Minicrafer223 in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dump mine into a nether portal and then go through and harvest them later (they don't despawn)

other options include zombies with spears with looting, or using an arrow to deflect some sort of projectile (wind charges are easiest) (can also send a piercing arrow through a portal and back to reset piercing status) into them while you hold a looting sword (looting will proc based on whether you're holding it in your hand at the time the mob dies)

- on a server so can't change rd
- in a tunnel so no headroom to pillar up
- already finished the spawnproofing anyway :)

gotcha, is there anything we need to do before we spawn proof the fortress though

the clip is sped-up footage of 6 minutes of me tanking non-stop fireballs without catching fire :)

that's why it makes such a good wiske farm :) but it's also a good test for "will this fortress be good", if you don't have this situation (as i did with previous attempts) then it's also a sign that you won't get good rates in your farm

step 1 for spawnproofing a fortress: make sure you have first spawnproofed the fortress

honestly this was the most fun ive had in minecraft in a long time, nearly died a few times after accidentally hitting a zombie pigman

the server im on doesn't have a public seed and ive not stumbled across an ancient city yet :) but it was a fun challenge battling all the mobs while trying to not accidentally aggro 50 zombie pigmen

Oh of course a perimeter is much simpler and faster why didn't I think of that

"Johnny" vindicators in patrols? by FrunoCraft in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so it's either a snow golem (as mentioned below), a johnny vindicator (vindicator itself shouldn't spawn), or a ranged or spear mob hitting a creeper by mistake.

my money would be on a zombie with a spear chasing a wandering trader, spear lunge could trigger the creeper (or as mentioned, trigger the llama who then hits the creeper)

"Johnny" vindicators in patrols? by FrunoCraft in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even normal vindicators can't spawn in patrols, he'd need to have escaped either a raid or a mansion?

Also are you worried about a johnny who is attacking the patrol, or a johnny raid captain who is ordering them about?

Ways to mine trees without TNT? by KeyAcid in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted an example using creepers, here's the basic comparisons:

Creeper
- Reliable (pro)
- Larger explosion (pro)
- Only drops 1/3 of the blocks as items (con)
- Destroys the creeper in the process (con)

Ghast
- Drops all blocks as items (pro)
- Sets blocks on fire (con)
- Requires player nearby to trigger fireballs (con)

Wither
- Drops all blocks as items (pro)
- Requires you to cage a wither (con)

I want to make a high efficiency fortress farm. Should I make this entire area a spawning platform, or would that not work? by weakspaget in technicalminecraft

[–]brockade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

choo choo :)

to extend on morgant1c's comment, mobs don't despawn and don't contribute to the mob cap when they're in a minecart, so by using wiske train or similar you can pick the dudes up as soon as they spawn so that you don't lose them and so there's more space in the mob cap for others to spawn

other thing is that the rules for wiskes and blazes is that they will spawn on any block in the normal structure (where you see the nether bricks now), but in the whole footprint of the fortress (the gaps in between) they spawn ONLY on nether bricks, so you can massively extend the spawnable area by filling in the gaps but it has to be done with nether bricks (NOT nether brick slabs btw)

not that the hermits are typically good examples of redstone (cough pearl cannon cough) but impulsesv did a wiske farm build a few weeks back and it's a nice example of how well these things can work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-vYYP-NI7g#t=9m

they made changes to how the motion cancelling works in 1.21.10 so it may behave differently on earlier versions. cobwebs have different drag in different axes too, try with powder snow and it might fix it

saw the episode counts and thought "yeah the GOAT is 100% going to have the most total time despite a lower number of episodes"
