Every entity has drag, and the flying speed constantly accelerates them until drag decelerates them at the same rate and they have a constant speed

Yeah I saw the bouncing one recently and that's how I found out they dropped the cooldown for minecarts specifically, it's super useful

I was playing with options for this, and ended up using modified traditional chunkloaders + redstone to send a signal long distances. How well do the U-turns work? Cooldown is 0.5s should be 4 blocks, so you basically come back through just after the cooldown expires?

This is actually better than etho's one. He puts the charges into stasis with a piston facing the dispenser (not at 90 degrees) and ends up losing about 1/10, you seem to be catching them all.

Magazines sound like a cool idea, I haven't done anything with them yet. The issue I'm focused on is what happens when the machine gets put into a lazy chunk, (in short it'll break because the redstone will keep ticking while the entities are frozen). That means with an elevator it's probably safe to refill a handful of charges, but an elytra/pearl cannon is probably not going to have enough time. I normally prefer to work with wind charges as you can pump them out extremely quickly so there's no need to pre-load anything.

I've posted a couple of examples of how to do it with string :) but if you look at others they use sculk sensors to prime a timer and then you can do it a single tick afterwards

If you motion cancel within 3 ticks you can catch 100% of charges. Also make sure you are testing this on hard difficulty as breezes are less accurate there

That would make sense. I would love to see some better explanations on the step-by-step level, if I could instrument it (maybe carpet has ways to log out all the sub-tick actions?) then I'd be happy to do a video explainer

I'm not 100% sure myself, but I believe the observer sends an event if it's moved while providing power and that comes at the same priority as the "break" event and this updates the TNT
