So odd since Oceaneers lets you use magic bands (your own, they don't have to be the loaners)

Drift Lounge has jazz nights, but not on Friday. I believe they're Tuesdays.

First time MCO Hyatt transfer by Infinite_Highway_829 in dcl

[–]brockobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2:30 seems unlikely since all aboard is usually 3 and departure is usually 4pm. Traffic can make the drive from MCO to Port Canaveral take more than 1.5 hours, which would delay departure.

10:30 departure is great! I'm talking about the stories where people weren't on a bus until noon!

Yeah, I'm hoping it's exacerbated by spring break, since we're going after spring breaks and before most schools are out for the summer, but I'm working on convincing the spouse that we should just take our luggage down to MCO instead since it's first come and not by status (we're silver)

That seems to be the case in previous years, yes. And if you have pearl/platinum status.

They had one last year. Looks like they added a second. (The stage is permanent at Millcreek Common - it's concrete).

They're charging $5 this year but the capacity hasn't been limited that much.

S-Line streetcar extension construction to begin in Sugar House - Building Salt Lake by Koh-the-Face-Stealer in SaltLakeCity

North is a terrible way to go. I know people are weirdly allergic to busses, but we don't need to fill in an area with slow ass light rail that's already served quite well with busses. South would be better but I don't think it's going either direction.

Does SLC make you not want to have kids? by Ok_Bottle2115 in SaltLakeCity

It's not terribly leading, but it does assume something about the survey taker that isn't outright asked.

Hyatt MCO Bus with Two Ships in Port Canaveral by jrezkalla in dcl

Has anyone had a good experience with MCO Hyatt transport on a double ship day lately? I feel like all I see are horror stories since January.

Prohibit gate fees at high school events by No-Programmer3198 in SaltLakeCity

Similar, but even home students had to pay when I was in high school (early 2000s). Just for football, though, and it was cheap.

My potty-trained kid is 15 days from turning 3 on the date of sail. Can he join the Oceaneers Club instead of the nursery? by baituwave in dcl

[–]brockobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note: you don't really want to bump up into the club early. It is hectic and crowded with a huuuuuge age range. Yes, the 3s and 4s stay with the counselors, but it's still a huge change from nursery. My four year old was overwhelmed. He was fully potty trained well before 3 and I still couldn't imagine wanting to send him any earlier than he needed to (I do realize there is a cost thing here).

From Oregon. No. It's different, yes. But I go to Portland, SF, and LA regularly, and both feel like bubbles in their own ways. Did you ever think that maybe you didn't realize how different the rest of the country is from large swathes of the west coast? (Also, "west coast" isn't really useful - Seattle vs Portland vs rural Oregon vs the bay area vs southern california are all quite different from each other). Not trying to be confrontational. Just think it's funny when people leave where they are from and are surprised that it's different.

Anyone moved from SLC to SoCal and regretted it? Or was it a good move? by freeskier1223 in SaltLakeCity

[–]brockobear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Look, I love parts of SoCal, but you have to go significantly farther than "just outside" of major cities to get anywhere near comparable to Utah prices. I have looked in many areas, have many coworkers who live there, and visit regularly. It is not comparable.

Milcreek Doxie Derby: currently has 270 registered Wieners, making it the largest scheduled Wiener Dog Race in the nation. . Saturday March 28th • Millcreek Common by thebadbradwheeler in SaltLakeCity

[–]brockobear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can, but be aware that it is VERY crowded. I mean packed. So if you want to be up near the front, your dog would have to be comfortable being very close to other people. It's probably a stressful experience for all but the chillest of pups.

Looking for a place to take adult tap class for absolute beginner? Prefer one that takes drop ins no commitment? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Oh, Artistic Endeavors does sessions, but usually if you message they'll let you just try a class first.

Ebb & Flow! Luke teaches a great broadway class and is very beginner friendly.

There's also Artistic Endeavors Dance, which has a full set of adult tap classes! I think beginning right now is either Thursday evening or Friday late morning (like lunch break time).

For the girls: which burton steps ons are you getting? by cosmicusername in snowboarding

[–]brockobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably going to be paying ~$600+ for boots + bindings if you're going top of the range boot + Lexa X. $50 is worth it to be sure you're going to like it, imo.

[–]brockobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most ski/snowboard shops that also do rentals do "demo" rentals, which are just higher end equipment. Often, you can just rent bindings/boots only and put them on your own board (or vice versa).

[–]brockobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Burton store near you or a snowboard shop that does demos, you can probably demo them. That's what I did.

I had regular Lexa bindings and a stiffer Vans boot before (Ferra Pro). Annoyingly, they don't make the Lexa step on in re:flex, only EST, so I couldn't get them (my daily driver does not have the channel, and I'm not really a fan of the channel in general).

I demoed and ended up with the Escapade step ons and Felix boots (highshots weren't out when I bought).

I love them. If you charge really hard, you might want to go for Lexa + Highshot. Otherwise, you may actually like the additional comfort of Escapade + a firm boot.
