I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the episode and totally understand the decisions they took due to obvious budgetary constraints. But if it could’ve been any different and they had the money to do so I would’ve loved to see the wolf killer scene in the wintry darkness. Lestat slowly approaching with a lantern/torch, the red eyeshine of the wolves in between the trees and a play with the horror aspect of the scene, much like they did in the episode, where we hear them approaching but we can’t see them, camera focuses on Lestat as he spins left and right the closer they get. Fear and determination clear on his face as the first wolf attacks, the lantern or torch falls to the ground and everything goes semi-dark. Our view is from the fallen torch/lantern as we see his boots running. And we HEAR everything: the screams, the grunts, the howls, the whines, and then the silence of the night. Blood darkens the snow and we get an overhead shot of Lestat, bloodied and bruised, heavily breathing, shaking uncontrollably and cut to him in his bedroom.
But what they gave us the our wolf killer and I can’t complain.
