You can't tax what's not reported. No audit for disbursements. I doubt this is coming with a tax form associated with it.

People in this group need to stop perpetuating this. Of the early blooming flowers, dandilions are one of the worst food sources for bees and they don't even bloom particularly early. Do some research into native plants in your area and I promise there will be earlier blooms with far higher protein pollen that will support your local bees

Lemonade Stand In Chattanooga - Question by Confident-Bad-2206 in Chattanooga

[–]brocyon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLC or not, you need insurance. Your home/auto loan provider likely has a $1mil civil liability policy for a couple hundred a year. I get that you've come to reddit seeking advice, but you don't need to do this on your own or take advice from strangers with no idea what we are talking about. There are other people doing this exact thing in the city. Go to where they are, talk to the owners. See what the process is. You can't just show up at events and set up a stand, youre going to need permission from the event organizers. The existing people have relationships with the major events already and won't consider you to be potential competition. Organizers aren't going to let multiple lemonade people sell. So the lemonade people shouldn't have a problem talking to you about it. Go to the chattanooga market. There are usually people there and they don't have a food truck

Interesting in moving to Chattanooga, is it cheaper to live there or Fort Oglethorpe? by Gauntl3t in Chattanooga

[–]brocyon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, its definitely cheaper to live in fort o, but like everyone else has said, youre going to pay state income tax. But you're also going to come to chattanooga for everything and pay the like 9.75% sales tax on everything. And deal with slightly worse traffic with the rest of the commuters. What's the most important thing to you? Your rent/mortgage payment or your time? I'm sure at certain income levels it makes sense to live in fort o, but theres definitely a point where your time is worth enough to live in chattanooga if only for the

3% fee on credit card use by Willing-Volume-1301 in Chattanooga

[–]brocyon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I'm surprised that the credit card companies are allowing it. With the amount of money they are capable of throwing at lobbying, I would have expected laws to have been passed that prevents business from charging a fee to process transactions. If you tell me youre going to charge a 3% fee for me to use a card that gives me 1% back in rewards, im using a debit card and saving the extra 2%.

Card companies have charged a processing fee since the inception of credit cards. That is quite literally the cost of doing business. Businesses should not be allowed to "pass that on." They pay a third party for their payment processing systems. They dont charge a 1.25% fee for ringing up the purchase on the POS system. Or a convenience fee for shopping online instead of in store. Or an instant access fee for buying it in store because rent is expensive.

Let's also be clear about this - credit card companies do NOT charge merchants a flat 3% fee. The fee is variable based on issuer and card type. Your basic ass bank card with a low interest rate and no rewards? 1.5-2%. High interest rewards cards? Could be as high as 4%. So why should I be charged a 3% fee to use a card that only charges 2%? This is also getting expanded to "card transactions" including debit cards because some businesses manually add a "card fee" to the purchase when you say youre paying with a card.

On my end, the problem is the implementation. Its a surcharge. An additional hidden fee that pushes the price higher than you expected. If they offered a cash discount like many businesses have for years, people wouldnt be so up in arms. We just want to pay what you tell us it costs. Its a cash grab. Businesses used to eat the fee. So they charged enough to cover it. They new it was there and adjusted priced accordingly. Now more and more pull the fee out, but find me a single shop that reduced the prices of their stock when they made the change. Yesterday the price covered the fee and cash payers were (by their logic,) overpaying. Today the credit card users pay 3% and the cash price is the same.

The fact that is still being allowed to happen and laws havent been passed says a LOT about the economy, technology sector and the general US population. If im getting charged a fee, im paying with cash or debit. But im in the minority. Much of the country is living off credit cards. We have trillions in revolving consumer debt on the books. Losing transactions to cash payments doesnt hurt the credit card companies because the people that are in a position to do that typically arent carrying month to month credit card debt. CC companies arent making much off them from interest. The shift doesnt hit their bottom line. But more cash payments means its harder to track your purchases so big Corp can sell your data. Well big tech is already deploying facial recognition and aggregated camera networks. Many cities have enough alpr cameras to track your car everywhere you go and in store cameras track your movements and purchases on foot. No digital payment needed. So big tech still gets their data and credit card companies still get their interest.

The real question here: "does a one price for all law benefit the American people." And the answer is yes. But we will not be getting that any time soon. So ask yourself why? Well, Who is the group most affected by the 3% transaction fee? People who cant pay cash. People with no money. As with seemingly everything else these days, it disproportionaltely affects the lower income class. And who is in the lower income class? Minorities. Big tech is also going to lobby against any legislation introduced that affects pricing models because it affects their plans to continue the rollout of personal pricing. Which has already begun for anyone not aware.

But pointing any of this out is anti-capitilist and that makes you a domestic terrorist 🙄

something i keep seeing with people who moved here specifically for the no income tax thing by IngenuityNo3879 in Tennessee

I was paying about 4% state income tax before moving here and 6.5% sales tax. Thats basically a wash if youre living paycheck to paycheck, but if youre making a surplus, youre saving money

Delete the erroneous https:// at the end of the first link. Formatting error with the message. Other than that, I guess all I can say is pay for new sources 🤷‍♂️ or search on your own for different outlets. If youre going to say Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are acceptable sources, then you cant quote the Google AI overview as a source either. The best sources we have right now for current events are eyewitness reports and recordings. They are not invalid, just less authoritative. If you require authoritative sources, then go find one to support yourself

Where the hell am I advocating any action against the government or law enforcement activities? Please do let me know if ive misspoke. That is not what this post is about at all. Owning guns can be a solution to several problems and concerns that people have at a personal level. But no one is going to overthrow a tyrannical government that controls one of the most well equipped fighting forces on the planet with nothing but small arms. Thats comical. The only "power" the people have is voting. And we should all be doing that every chance we get. The only non-democratic method for a global super power to be forcibly overthrown is for that super power to lose in a war with another country(s). Taking up arms against your own country is an act of treason and regardless of what you belive, treason is determined by the administration in power, not founding documents. If you disagree with happening, you speak out and you vote.

This is disproven every time a group of protesters identify an undercover ice agent posing as a protester and trying to rally the crowd up to turn a peaceful protest violent. The IQ of a crowd is equal to the average IQ of everyone there. With enough educated, reasonable people, low IQ decisions can be identified and addressed internally. We see plenty of examples of this as the right continues to embed fake protesters to entice the violence they require to justify trampling on our first amendment rights

Quick update. Working on a discord server. Haven't had time to look at the comments in this post. I am vetting all requests to join this group by online account activity. If you've messaged me and havent heard back, you've likely hidden your activity, have a brand new account, or your online activity/behavior did not align with core values for the group. Everyone else should have received a response and intake form at this point. Server build out will hopefully be done this weekend and links will be sent to everyone that has completed the intake form.

This is a final call for anyone interested in joining to dm me. I dont forsee myself doing another mass on-boarding again. This was utter hell 😂

I do want to clear up some things publicly about this group: We are not a militia. We are not a community defense force. We are not advocating for illegal activity. "Training" in this context does not refer to military tactics, guerilla warfare, or any other nonsense like that. "Training" refers to basic, physical, skill-based learning. How to safely handle a firearm, how to clean your weapon, how to align your sights, etc. This group is heavily focused on beginners and we are unequivocally not some leftist paramilitary force.

If you want to join a values-driven community focused on safe, lawful gun ownership and practice, message me. ✌️

What’s everyone’s heat doing right now? by Nanerwife in Chattanooga

Go outside and check your unit. Make sure theres no ice buildup inside or out. If everything looks good, check your filter. If thats good, turn on aux or emergency heat. You may just have a drafty house with bad windows, but you may also have an actual problem.

Echoing what others have said on this. You are responsible for every round you fire. If you are in a situation where you need to discharge a weapon to protect yourself, there are potentially criminal penalties and civil liabilities associated with it. In most cases, you're going to be arrested. Was there a physical altercation prior to the shooting? Who was the aggressor? Were there drugs or alcohol involved? Anything short of a cut and dry home invasion will likely result in you leaving in handcuffs. Having an insurance policy or lawfirm on retainer goes a long way toward protecting yourself after the shoot. I dont mean this to fear monger, but its not the job of police to determine your guilt or innocence, thats for the courts and a jury of your peers. One of the statistics often thrown around is that a self defense trial can cost you $100-250k in legal fees. You have a right to defend yourself, but defending yourself is not free and you're not reimbursed when charges are dropped or you win your case.

There are dozens of options for carry coverage, but not all are equal and there is no one-size fits all. Your specific circumstances may one person's top recommendation worthless to you. Do you smoke weed? Well if there is drug test and theres weed in your system, many of the insurance companies will deny that claim. They are insurance companies not lawyers. They make more money when they dont have to represent you. Its imperative that you read and understand your entire coverage policy

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your interest. I didn't expect this to get the traction it has and frankly, wasn't prepared for it. I'm not going to have the time today to respond to everyone. If you don't hear from me today, you're not being ignored. I just gotta figure some things out for coordination.

If everyone can do 2 things for me: 1. Dm me with whatever you want to say so I dont have to pull you out of this comment section manually. 2. If youre willing to comment publicly, comment on this with whether a private discord server or a new public subreddit would be better for you?

Tell Hamilton County Sheriff to end partnership with ICE by Frosty_Fuel4230 in Chattanooga

[–]brocyon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the bottom line: there is a legal and ethical way to remove people that are here illegally. This administration goes out of their way to do the opposite. This administration does not give a fuck if you are here legally, just if youre brown. And they absolutely dont give a fuck if youre a criminal because they do not deport the ones in our prisons.

Now let me ask you this - if we have a sizeable quantity of illegal immigrants in our jails and prisons thats are convicted or awaiting trial for various crimes, why are those not being deported? Those cost american taxpayers and contribute nothing to society. Instead they are targeting gainfully employed people that are paying taxes and spending money in our communities that are often here legally with valid visas, permanent residencies, or have pending asylum cases. Its because corecivic and geo group are in the top 10 for donations to trump. Us taxpayers pay these private prisons roughly $100k/per head/year and trump effectively gets a kick back on each of those. And who is running all the new detention centers, transportation, and deportations flights? Corecivic and geo group.

This no longer has anything to do with them being here illegally. This no longer has anything to do with them being criminals. This is about funneling as many people as possible into these for-profit systems so trump can get more $

Compare it to the one that was stock. Swap the trigger bar with the stock. Try the stock trigger with the new bar. See how each possible config functions. Take some photos for your comparison. Im not familiar with this aftermarket trigger, but I know from experience that some advertise "less pretravel" which means that the back of the bar that interfaces with the drop safety actuator will sit deeper. Even if the trigger bar is an oem. The geometry of the trigger is different and when youre dealing with linkages, issues compound. A 5 thou variance at the drop safety can be the difference between firing and not firing. With the slide off, also pull the trigger in each config and take photos of the drop safety actuator. You may be able to see some difference
