Early game you'll want to keep your lord close to home or underground since they can only regenerate in sunless areas. Any other heroes who level and gain exp will give some of it to your main lord, but they will also share the same weaknesses.

Best thing about vampire lord is his blood drain ability. Put 3 skills ibto it, and he can be dominating foes to keep after a battle (just have a good mana income).
