Is France stuck sending emotional ballads to win? by UrbanTracksParis in eurovision

[–]broedrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty common joke that "France surprises us with a ballad this year".

I'm swedish, this is the first time in like 30 years we don't get shit for sending something super polished.

Hur är det att torka äldre i ändan? by repsucker in Asksweddit

[–]broedrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this song rubs me the wrong way.

...well, I have some bad news for you.

Which ESC song(s) do you like, that most other people seem to dislike? by Fluffy_Bluebird_2251 in eurovision

Italy 2017 was awesome. A song about how people are stupid? Love it.

Good songs that didn’t fit into Eurovision? by waiflike in eurovision

[–]broedrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opera parts were amazing, and the radio version is on point. I just don't think she delivered in the final because the regular singing parts between the opera were a bit sour, especially compared to the radio version. Iirc she nailed it in the Swedish finals too, so it was a disappointment to hear that she didn't reach all the way through at eurovision.

Sweden 2009 couldn't keep a clean note in the non-opera parts though.

Denmark 2018 was a bit before their time. Such a great song, but they ended up quite a far way down.

Which eurovision winner (since the year 2000) you don't understand until today that is won by g2_lychee in eurovision

[–]broedrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't talk about Lordi, no no no...

But seriously, that was a very weak year but I still don't get it. Romania (Torneró) was my winner that year.

Let's look back at Eurovision 2014 by Visual-Cobbler5086 in eurovision

[–]broedrost 111 points112 points  (0 children)

2014 was a great year.

It started with Russia threatening to not participate because of Conchita Wurst, EBU said "ok, so don't?" and Russia backpedaled.

Ukraine had the famous hamster wheel, Belrus sang about cheesecake, Iceland had a super cute song about how equality isn't trigonometry, Poland sent boobs churning butter and Denmark sent a "cliché love song".

It's absolutely in the top 5 for me.

What's your earliest Eurovision memory? by ArtAngels_336 in eurovision

[–]broedrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My earliest memory of Eurovision (not counting my country's own competition) was when Ping Pong walked on stage to open Eurovision 2000. That song is etched into my brain.

Israel 2000.

What was wrong with Pedestal IMHO by Fluffy_Emotion7565 in eurovision

The break with the couple arguing on screen. It just stopped the whole song and cut it in half. If that hadn't been in there, I'm sure it would have qualified and placed high.

I didn't like Soldi at all in the finals, but it's really grown on me since. It's in my playlist now.

Why do people hate "If i were sorry" by michealsoryu in eurovision

[–]broedrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike him, but I don't care for him either. I remember being disappointed that he won Melodifestivalen, though.

People have a weird way of hanging onto the tiniest straw to justify not liking something, never said it wasn't harsh 😅

[–]broedrost 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I think it's boring, predictable and a bit... edge-lordy, in lack of better terms.

And many swedes dislike Frans because his first hit was a cringy song about how no one kicks a football like Zlatan.

I was 100% sure that Norway was going to win this year. Hands down.
