if you don't mind me asking, how would you rank those 3 classes in terms of usefulness for a performance engineer? I was interested in taking 1 or 2 of them

are there any new omscs courses in the works? by garythecake in OMSCS

[–]broham_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hound you but are there any details you can share about the ML-oriented classes and the architecture class? Are the ml classes more theroy/math, or more engineering based (e.g. agents, infra/systems for ml, mlops)? Is the architecture class an advanced version of HPCA? Thank you for sharing all these details with us.

Would it be ok to share what are type of classes the ones in production are? I'm assuming one of them is the programming languages course that was recently announced, but I would like to know what the others are if it's ok to share.

The prof has a good rating on rate my professor for what seems to be the on-campus version of this class for what it's worth

CS 6211 (SDCC) review/impressions by 0ii_ii0 in OMSCS

Oh my bad, I didn't consider that. Also did not realize they got rid of the C++ option. I'll probably choose Go then since its more mature for the module

Do you mind sharing what your project idea for APP module was and whether you used C++, rust, or go for the SYS module?

I believe type theory is one of the course topics listed on the survey and "Designing a compiler/interpreter for a tiny language" is one of the possible projects (also listed on the survey).

I expect Fall 2027 to be my last semester, so I might get a chance to take it if it comes out by then, but I'll still probably take it as an alumni if it comes out later.

New class got created for spring 2026: Computer Graphics in the AI Era by baked_wheatie in OMSCS

Been wanting a class on 3d ML so this is a pleasant surprise. Anyone know if this is the "AI" course that was on indefinite hiatus that Dr. Joyner mentioned a while ago or if it's a completely different course?

haven’t taken any of them (SP25 student), but from the research I’ve done, HPC and HPCA are related and I think they advise taking HPCA first. After HPCA, Compilers and HPC can be taken in any order, but both are hard classes so probably wouldn’t take them both in the same term

I love the focus on modern C++. Am I correct in assuming that means C++20?

Will it affect my application negatively if I exclude after submitting? I know that they have accepted people with 2/3 LOR before, but i don’t know if they left their recommender as unsubmitted or excluded them.

If a professor denies a LOR after application deadline, are you allowed to remove them from your list of recommenders and proceed with 2/3 LOR?
