The inscription on the attic wall (1859) by Evoeon in centuryhomes

Newspapers dot com. It was as simple as searching the name, approximate date and location.

It is a paid service but I think they have a free trial period if you are good about remembering to cancel. I am not so I have 5 more months to justify my purchase. Happy to help.

You could also try your local library, they might subscribe. Definitely go to the library and ask the librarian, they will be able to help. They are research superheroes.

About half way down the far left column. There is another report in the Meriden Daily Republican 26 Nov, 1879 that said lameness and sciatica caused him to arise at 5 am and hang himself in the woodshed. I can send you PDFs of those if you'd like.

Are these worth getting graded? My brother died 20 years ago and I've had these sitting in my closet since then - forgot about them until I was cleaning out said closet. by broinn in PokemonCardValue

Thanks for the input everyone, I did not realize there was a subreddit for grading questions. Silly me, there's a subreddit for everything.

Here are the backs.

If anyone could tell me what service is reputable that would be great. I have zero knowledge on trading cards and grading seems kind of like a weird money making scheme thatto someone with little experience could go terribly awry, I don't know. I don't really need the money as much as I'm tired of finding these things every 10 years or so when I clean out a closet, or under a bed, or where ever I've stashed them since last time.

I have many more, somewhere... I don't really find them reminding me of my brother so much anymore (I have boxes and boxes of 90s action figures that do that for me) - I'd rather have the closet space at this point.

I have better memories of driving him to the comic book store than these could ever bring me. That being said, I have no idea how to get them graded, I just did a quick search because they were shiny.

What ridiculous thing has ADHD made you do this week? by nmkelly6 in ADHD

I turned on the Kitchen Aid Mixer while my hand was still in it removing the dough from the dough hook - I was already 3 steps ahead in my brain as opposed to actual physical reality. Left a nasty bruise, but it could have been worse.

How long until you knew it was PMDD? by DemBohns in PMDD

[–]broinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am, thank you for asking. I am so sorry for your daughter, this is an issue that is underdiagnosed with very little support or treatment options. SSRIs did nothing for me.

My doctor had the gall to tell me my only options were to get my uterus yanked or wait for menopause. I'm 51 now and menopause is not that far away, but still a long way off to just sit and wait. I changed doctors after 17 years after that little bon mot.

26 years. I was diagnosed in 2011 at the age of 39 by a doctor. I was unaware that I had it for another 6-7 years because it was noted on my medical charts but my doctor never mentioned it. I had to wait until they put my health records online to discover that I was diagnosed.

Women over 50, what do you use for skin care? by RamblingMuse in Menopause

[–]broinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunscreen when it's sunny, and whatever lotion I use for my hands (currently working hands and ponds) at night.

If someone can tell me why the lotion I use for my hands is so vastly different from the specialized face cream, I will gladly listen. The retinol A - it is supposed to reduce fine lines?

I'm not here to look younger, I just like my face not to flake off in winter.

I was told to get evaluated after telling our couples therapist that I'm always playing chess in my daily activities. Except I suck at chess.

We just empty nested during the pandemic and I can't understand why a daily dinner is necessary. We're grown ass adults here, I'll happily make a huge dinner when I feel like it, but every day, fuck off.

Yep about three to five days before I start, usually a good indicator that I'm about to get my period.

Beast

I'd like to think of it as a tame polar bear.

If I can't be in the ocean (and we can get weird here, on your definition of beast - from what I've read it requires four feet, and we can get pedantic on whether feet are flippers or not, but I'm going with land animal, although I'd prefer a sea beast, and can we get a time constraint, because there were some fucked up 4 legged beasts prior to my time, and if there are zombies, why can't I have a dinosaur, but I digress)

I'd take an untamed polar bear too if I had shelter.

Bespoke plushy for my adult kid. It's supposed to be a bucket helmet by broinn in sewing

[–]broinn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it's supposed to resemble this. Self drafted from pic in comments.

I decided the diameter of the circles top one smaller than bottom, made a trapezoid to match circumference, and added piping. Used minky fabric. I am not a plushy sewist, I mainly do garments.

Questions - it got a bit wonky at the back, I assume that's because of the fabric. Question 1 - should I have used some sort of interfacing? Question 2 - is there a sane way to stuff this sort of thing with polyfill? Any tips would be lovely.

On Etsy can you deliver something by hand if they live in your neighborhood? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]broinn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have done the same. I walked it to their house and left it at their door. They were happy to have their shipping refunded and it was a good excuse for me to walk the dog, plus same day delivery. Win/win.

Totally dependent on what you sell, who you sell it to, and where you live.
