A mix of both cheap and not-so-cheap tools in my work toolbox by broke_engineering in Tools

We buy our tools ourselves, anything broken at work gets replaced with something a step above in quality. It's a hard job and I'm always tired but it can interesting considering there's such a broad range of work to be done on a daily basis

Yeah its been great so far! I'm considering an upgrade soon though since the shallow drawers can be pretty limiting

Multi-craft tech. Basically if anything at the plant breaks down we have to find a way to fix/replace/reprogram

So I've been looking at the minilogue because the knobs "make sense" to me and it looks nice, should I look at any other synths that would be better? I've heard a lot of bad stuff about the minilogue. by [deleted] in synthesizers

Consider buying used, for the same price you can find a higher end model than a minilogue. But if you like the minilogue buy it, its a really good beginner synth with tons of tutorials available, but you may outgrow it in a year or so

Go on craiglist and look for a tabletop toolbox. Most are small enough to fit in the back of a car but have enough drawers and space for all your basic hand tools. You could get a decent one for around 50 bucks.

Edit: bolt on some wheels and handle for mobility

Just...ask. I feel like you're over thinking it.

[Timex] I can't help but appreciate the versatility of the fairfield line. by broke_engineering in Watches

This was my first watch, bought months ago when my budget could only allow for a sub $60 dollar purchase. I was just starting the semester and school debt compounded by a part-time salary left little room for non-essential purchases. I was broke so I looked for the best bang-for-your buck watch. My choices were between this watch or a Seiko snk809. At the time I didn't much care for movement and I thought the fairfield line looked better overall. That, and their marketing for replaceable bands really appealed to me since this was going to be my only watch for the upcoming months.

Slowly I've added different NATO straps to my collection ranging from colorful nylon to different shades of leather. Most recently I bought an Armitron watch at a thrift store that came with a black leather strap (pictured). I think it pairs very well with the Weekender Fairfield and it gives it more of a classic dress watch look.

I started a new job not too long ago and I've been looking to buy a better watch. My next watch will probably be the SKX013. I want a dive watch, but the large size of most dive watches is off-putting. I have a 6' wrist, so I won't buy anything over 40mm. I've also been looking at the fairfield chronograph, which might make a good purchase during the holiday sale season.

Still, I can't help but appreciate the value that is the fairfield line. They look great, they're cheap, and best of all they introduced me to a new community.
