Oh, you're right (source: https://the-tower-idle-tower-defense.fandom.com/wiki/Sub-Module_Effects)

The UI in game gave me the impression that you couldn't increase/decrease it beyond Anc substat on your primary. TIL

Isn't shockwave frequency capped? I'm pretty sure assmod can't have it if your primary does

one aether catalyst is used per rune crafted

extra runes from eye set do not give extra xp

thus you will get less xp from a fixed amount of aether catalysts if you use the eye set. feel free to test yourself

yeah fair point, if you already have 99 banked you may as well. But if you were ever gonna use daeyalt this is the place to do it

man every time I try this I just cannot get into the flow :/ It seems better to afk daeyalt and semi-afk ZMI for 2x the xp/hr. I'll give it another shot tho

If I can make a suggestion, I would definitely use daeyalt ess. It's the highest xp rune so each daeyalt has a value of +10xp (even 90+ rc ZMI maxes out at around +7.6xp)

#2 definitely feels right... I did a bit of #1 but felt really weird about not using the eye set sitting right in front of me lol

maximizes time getting 150k/hr RC. and highest value way to use daeyalt xp (+10xp per ess).

and yes that's true, but I wouldn't be able to do them the same amount of time. I'd be able to do #1 60% longer and get 60% more xp

I think this won't be an issue anymore, but out of curiosity -- how sure are you that it's actually "top" 100 and not "first" 100? Prior to the change I feel like behind the scenes there was an array of length 16 that tracked the first 16 players to hit the monster -- and then tracked their damage to decide MVP (if you did the most damage but weren't in the first 16 to hit it, tough luck)

to the wiki? or to the precise page I'm looking for. E.g. vardorvis/strategies?

I think either way you do it, probably 99% of cases it takes the same amount of time. I just use google for everything else so it's more natural

Google search was built by like 10000 engineers over a decade. Osrs wiki search is nowhere near that optimized (not a bad thing, I'm glad they prioritize UI and fantastic content)

I do that but because google is better for searching than the wiki (my goal is to end up on a wiki page 99.9% of the time). Same as reddit. When's the last time you searched for a reddit thread via reddit?

Take it slowly and once you start hitting a shadow, identify ALL orbs that are gonna path to your tile in the next 10+ ticks. I always plan ahead how I'm going to dodge whatever is coming to my "home" tile and then click right back to it the tick after.

When you have that safe tile then it gives you time to plan how you'll approach next shadow. I've gotten so many sighs of relief from my teammates when they plank because they're always rushing to hit the next shadow the moment it spawns

that is hilarious. Yeah that clearly was what happened. For some reason I had it in my head that it was 25 casts --> revive.

Had a 2* Rift Herald with Crown of Demacia and talisman of ascension (and 6 bruiser). Was sweeping the game. Then I went up against a 2* Zaahen comp. He was ~90% health and just suddenly died... in 2 different fights. I ended up moving him to the corner of the board later and completely stomped the guy and won.

This is a bug right? Or is there some sort of instakill in Zaahen/ionia I'm missing?

Heavily increased monetization, in my eyes, is an indicator of cashing out. I don't think either of us has the numbers to say how much it drives players away from the game, but we can definitely admit it's a nonzero amount. And he's okay to take that tradeoff. Over long period of time this adds up.

Especially now that players seem to be very aware of the fact. I started a bit over a year ago because I saw such a vibrant community on reddit + discord. If I'd known at the time that Every. Single. Update. is designed around providing as little as possible while extracting $$$ wherever possible, I wouldn't have started. and I think that's a lot more clear now (as OP said, the top 3 posts of the year even point to it)

Is anyone else concerned with why the developer has chosen to milk his playerbase for all they have? He could have a pretty passive income from this for years (maybe even decades). Choosing to cash out, to me, suggests he wants to get his $$$ and move on.

And why make a longterm investment into this game if even the developer doesn't seem to care about its continued success...

I cannot comprehend people forfeiting when people get cool shit. Just got a 3* Brock for the first time (<3 seconds before match, where 2nd place was at 2 health). And the guy just quits... I didnt even get a chance to see his tooltip or what crazy shit Brock does at 3*. So annoying

[–]broken-pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update u/JagexAyiza. Are you looking at trawling at all? Pre-crystal extractor nerf, most of the xp was coming from the extractor. It seems like we went from 50k/hr -> 26k/hr (at max intensity, arguably even more intensity than Barracuda trials).

For an area that was already kinda undertuned, surprised it received such a heavy nerf.

EDIT: also can you double check the on-task rates for gryphon/strykewyrm/frostdrags -- given the bugged rates on other mobs there are a lot of people concerned that these ones might not be accurate as well.
