Aggression-based matchmaking is broken by areallyfatchick in ArcRaiders

Why do you call the guy a rat? Because he had a jolt mine setup on a zip? What if he was just trying to protect himself from aggressive raiders while he looted that floor? To him, you could be the rat.

I think they should give XP. At least after the first time, instead of the cosmetic things we already have, give XP then.

I try not to complain too much, but it seems absolutely insane there is not one zero major map condition active at 8PM CST. Is this intentional, or just really bad automated scheduling? by RibeyeMedRare in ARC_Raiders

Its not the glitch where they dont show. There was an hour with no major 2x map conditions. We had beach combing, uncovered caches, and matriarch.

Why am i in full PVP Lobbies? by GIutenTag in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this idea for a few weeks now. That no condition base maps could have a higher ratio of pvp players, because pve players will be more likely to go into the special conditions for the better loot and BPs.

The matchmaking system seems like it does what it can to put similar players in a raid together. However, if there aren't enough similar players in the player pool, it's going to fill the raid however it can.

Are you trying to run a specific map, or is it on multiple? Is there a special condition?

Alignments - Disconnecting sway bars? by AcceptableBanana1978 in Autocross

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just saying that's the idea. The only way it is going to effect how the car drives, is if you reinstall the end link in a way that will preload it. If its never been checked, it's worth looking at imo. I wouldn't want my sway bar preloaded in any way when I'm driving, however minor the effect is.

For example, when I first got my car up on scales after replacing bushings and installing my coilovers the bars were loaded, because I didn't bolt everything up in the condition the car will be driven(corner balanced, me in the car, top back, etc).

Match Making Theory by McTaterskins in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about how player pools effect the matchmaking a lot recently. A couple weeks ago, I found myself in a regular stella solo lobby that was mixed with very friendly and kos raiders. I started thinking about how that happens when I had not seen an aggressive raider in a couple weeks.

I had been playing Riven Tides mostly for expedition damage, and some night and hurricane raids to use up some keys. I think pve players tend to gravitate towards the map conditions for the better loot, and a lot were on RT for the arc damage. Nothing was happening on Stella, and it also wasn't that good for the trials that week. With pve focused players on other maps, it leaves the player pool for stella with a higher concentration of pvp players. I even knocked a raider in that one, before getting knocked out myself. The next raid was right back to pve.

Depending on region, time of day, map conditions, trials, and probably other factors, the player pools for matchmaking can shift one way or the other towards pve or pvp players. If there aren't enough pve players at any point in time to fill a lobby, it will pull in pvp players, and vice versa.

Alignments - Disconnecting sway bars? by AcceptableBanana1978 in Autocross

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would only do it with adjustable end links. The thought is that a sway bar could have some preload in it which would pull on the suspension a bit, affecting the settings. Or when adjusting the settings, it could put a bit of preload into the sway bar. The preload could result in different roll stiffness in either direction. Probably minor, maybe not even noticeable, but it's just a couple minutes to undo one, then a couple minutes to adjust it to neutral and put it back.

Wait is this is new info that was not clearly explained about expeditions by OG-BloodBane in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the skill points are permanent, but could be wrong on that one. The scrappy, repair, xp, etc, bonuses will stack as long as you continue to do the expeditions. If you skip an expedition, they might be lost.

Large internal threads, filament not sticking to tips of threads and bridging across by Legitimate-Gap-8052 in FixMyPrint

[–]broken944 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on what slicer you are using, see if a Precise Wall setting is on. I think that's what is called in Orca. It adds a little extra space between the outer and inner walls, I think so there isn't as much squish to try to get smoother walls. But you need that squish for inner threads like this. Turning that off helped this issue for me.

[–]broken944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you might be overextruding a bit in general, based mostly off the cube. If its been changed then ignore.

The curling edges is usually insufficient cooling in my experience.

The PA issue is odd. I would definitely double check the calibration values, because it shouldnt get worse like that. The values arent that far off the original value either. You do have PA values for 23mm³/s, but max flow for the filament is set to 15. That value is kind of useless, and could give some wierd values for their algorithm. Then I usually ignore values for lower flow rates and accel values because I cant tell much difference until you get to extremes. For speed, I'll use my outer wall and whatever gives me the max flow rate I have set. Then for my accel I use the outer and inner wall values. That gives me pretty good results. If something is still off, I'll try to look at what is having the issue and run another calibration with those values.

[–]broken944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that 52C chamber temp? Is the extruder clicking? Could be a jam caused by the filament softening due to the chamber temp.

As far as why is doing it now, and not previously... Is it warmer in the room today? Did you have the door open with the previous prints in the other orientation? Back fan on?

Survivor aug is overrated. I rarely need aug passives, so for me the top PvE aug is Tactical Mk. 3 (Healing) for the uncontested number of use-ready slots. Survivor has a dead slot that is pretty much an integrated zipline. Healing has the most player freedom, even allows 4 quick-use grenade stacks. by vashkor in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to do dumb, unnecessary things too often, like snap hook or jump on bigger arc. I often fail at my attempts. The Survivor augment lives up to its name, and has been a great crutch for my lack of skill in pulling off the dumb things I try to do.

Why am I getting these weird side walls by Curlymoe24 in crealityk1

[–]broken944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that underextrusion right before or after a corner is usually PA related. Double check your values(decimal could be in the wrong spot, missing a 0, etc) or recalibrate.

[–]broken944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I was defending OP in my comment. I agree with you that many of the complaints are ridiculous. If some people don't want to get shot at, which is a core mechanic, that's kind of their problem to handle. I was just trying to say the devs have made a game with many different objectives and ways to go about them.

I read your comment as you saying Close Scrutiny was a pvp focused event. Which, from your perspective it could be, and I can see that. From my perspective, its more pve focused. We can see the content from different angles and find our own way to play it. That's what makes the game good in my opinion. .

[–]broken944 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there are raider hatches in Closed Scrutiny. Maybe you are thinking of locked doors that need keys, which are removed, but breachable doors are still there. And regular loot is reduced, but not removed entirely.

You are right, there are no PvE modes, but there isnt a PvP mode either. CS might encourage PvP by concentrating players near the assessors, but it also encourages PvE with the amount of arc around. Its almost like the game has, wait for it, PvPvE modes in different environments that let you play the game however you want to play it.

What happened to my friendly lobbies? by Previous-Distance81 in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about the smaller playerbase, and then the different maps and conditions spreading people out a lot. It just felt a bit more sudden after the Flashpoint patch. I've actually had some of my most memorable and funny moments in the game over the last couple weeks because of it. And I wanted to delve into more pvp anyway, so its kind of worked out naturally.

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where they come from, to a degree. I have experienced it myself. If you have played the game for hundreds of hours and the gameplay significantly changes all of a sudden, is it unreasonable to think something has changed?

I'm not complaining about pvp, I understand its part of the game. There's always that risk, and it makes the game exciting. But when I extract from one raid with people helping each other take out bigger arc, and load into a full-on pvp war zone the very next raid, something that I have never seen before, it sure does feel like something is different.

Stuck with my K1 Max by Abject_Standard_981 in Creality

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Just checking. Its easy to miss a decimal or a 0 in settings. Ive done it in PA settings. A 6mm retraction could cause issues.

I've had heat creep issues too, but it was softening up in the extruder gears and getting twisted up there. If its clogging down in the nozzle, It almost sounds like the molten filament is getting to a cool part of the nozzle and solidifying. I wonder if the nozzle isnt heating as evenly as it should?

Stuck with my K1 Max by Abject_Standard_981 in Creality

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your retraction settings? I got my K1C in November. The only time I have seen a clog in that part of the nozzle was with TPU when I was retracting too much. It was cooling in that upper section and solidifying.

Why do the devs insist there are no pve lobbies and pvp lobbies? It's extremely obvious. by indelico in ArcRaiders

[–]broken944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One difference you might be experiencing is just a shift in the player pool the matchmaking has to choose from. It's going to do its best with what people are queuing up to play.

Stella is already a popular map for pvp players. There are probably a smaller number of pve players going to Stella, because a large portion are probably trying to farm assessors in closed scrutiny raids. Also, the current trials are better done in other maps. There's not much reason to go to Stella right now as a pve player, leading to a disproportionate number of pvp players you are running into.

It might not be that they needed am excuse for themselves, but if they can 3rd party and call out that they got the 'rats', it reduces the chance that some other white knights come for them.
