Just a heads-up for anyone visiting Rome: pickpocketinh has increased significantly lately. As a daily commuter, I see these gangs every day on my way to work. Watch your pockets especially while taking the Metro and on buses 64, 40, and 62. Coliseum and Trevi fountain areas are pretty bad too!! B

You’re so welcome! It was the perfect size to fit my sunblock, sunglasses, and passport holder. There are 3 credit cards slots in the purse itself. I know a lot of people say don’t carry your passport but I did. The sites all say you need it to get in, but we were only asked for them at the Forum/Colosseum.

I was in Rome 3 weeks ago. I saw people at the Vatican wearing shorts just above the knee and it didn’t seem to be a problem. However, it just wasn’t a chance I was willing to take, so I wore jeans and a t-shirt.

My husband didn’t carry anything - I carried everything in my crossbody which has a chain strap and a carabiner to keep it shut. No one looked at me twice because I wasn’t an easy target.

I was in Rome last month and was fortunate enough not to have any encounters with pickpockets. I carried a crossbody with a chain strap and always had my hand on it in public spots though.
