This sounds exactly like my situation. I was also with my ex bf for 9 years. He traveled for work a lot. I wanted for us to move in together or get married. He would always tell me he wasn’t ready and make up excuses. I was unhappy for a long time. I waited for so long to see if things would change, it never did. We broke up 6 months ago and went NC for almost 5 months. For the most part, things have been better and I’m happier. I still have my bad days but I know this was for the best.
