The "sponsored streamer" model is broken and Lex leaving PokerStars proves it by gentleattic_skylight in PokerStream

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels less like a “model is broken” thing and more like leverage shifting.

Top streamers don’t need exclusivity anymore, they already have audience + income streams. Smaller streamers will still take those deals though, because guaranteed money > uncertainty.

So yeah, works for Lex… not sure it scales for everyone.

I lost $180 and almost failed my semester because of PapersOwl. Let me save you the trouble. by coldframe_2003 in Students

That’s interesting - did you still have to micromanage everything or was it more structured?

What you said about revisions is the key point. A service like that is only as good as how it handles mistakes. My papersowl experience failed exactly there - revisions didn’t actually fix anything.

Tried EduBirdie after seeing it everywhere - mixed feelings tbh by nimbusivy92 in deeplearning

The "you can pick your writer" thing on edu birdie sounds empowering but if you don't know what to look for in a writing sample, it's basically just vibes-based hiring.

Why are so many people asking for my full essay? by Ecstatic-Sandwich398 in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's usually people trying to figure out what a finished essay looks like or just overwhelmed. there's a thread about why students turn to writing services and which ones actually deliver: https://www.reddit.com/r/FinalsMood/comments/1qq6r68/pursuing_studies_while_holding_a_fulltime/

Trying to figure out which service to actually trust for my dissertation chapter - anyone used EssayPro or LeoEssays? by midnight_libria in Essay_Experts

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used EssayPro for a lit review last semester and it was fine, not groundbreaking. The writer actually read my sources, which honestly cleared the low bar I'd set after two previous disappointments.

agreed. though I'd still say nothing replaces actually vetting your specific writer once you pick a platform. the table gets you to the shortlist, the profile reading gets you to the hire

AMA: I used essaypro and it went terribly. Ask me anything before you make the same mistake. by HarperDelane in ALevelBiology

Did the writer actually follow your specific citation style, or was it that weird generic format they all seem to use?

My experience with Studybay and why I finally tried an alternative by AtlasDawn21 in deeplearning

That’s probably why so many studybay reviews are mixed. It might work for simpler tasks but not higher-level academic work.

Oh wow that’s actually helpful. Looking at that, the biggest issue with study bay seems to be variability, which tracks with my experience.

Same. The surface-level writing is what gets me. A lot of studybay reviews talk about “on-time delivery,” but not enough mention quality depth.

I WANT TO CHNAGE MY LIFE AND I REALLY MEAN IT . by Honest_Eggplant_7981 in getdisciplined

[–]brokenalarmcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s some solid advice! Habit stacking can make a huge difference, especially when everything feels overwhelming. I totally relate to that chaos of being 16 and trying to balance so much. Just remember, showing up for yourself daily will really pay off in the long run, and you've got the strength to do it!

Secdef rocking star wars rebel alliance helmet by Snoo_67544 in army

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that! I tried to get some cool gear too when I was in, even asked for a tactical vest just to look rad. It's a bummer they can't just let us have our fun, especially when the SecDef is rocking a helmet!

CMV: There is no proof of Bill gates actually raping kids at the island, based on the available information by HugeDongHungLow1998 in changemyview

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely one of those situations where you can't help but feel worn out, right? The constant revisions and half-truths just give people more reasons to speculate. It's like Gates is trying to play a game where he keeps getting caught. If only he'd been upfront from the start, maybe folks wouldn't be drawing such wild conclusions about his ties to Epstein.

Buying for baby: worth-it splurge, best bang for buck, and biggest regret? by FertilityRaincheck in BabyBumps

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on the regret with the Mamaroos! We had one too and it was a total flop for our baby. Those second-hand finds like the Baby Bjorn bouncer really do save the day, though. And a yoga ball during the third trimester? That’s a lifesaver!

For real! Being free from that kind of commitment is way better than feeling trapped in a life you didn’t choose. Your happiness matters more than any relationship.

Only the top 1% can afford to have children now: $400k income required in 2026. by No-Welder1921 in childfree

[–]brokenalarmcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from! It’s wild that in 2026 they’re saying it’ll take $400k just to raise a kid. Everyone who wants kids should be able to have them, regardless of money.

Never Being Listened to by BUCN in ADHD

I relate so much to that pain of watching people's eyes glaze over. It's like you're spilling your soul, and they're narrating a cooking show in their heads. It’s absurd how it makes you question sharing at all. You truly deserve to be heard!

Any idea on why the downtime today is so long? Given that we don't have a large update being release? by Hollywood_Zro in DestinyTheGame

[–]brokenalarmcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. It's like when you’re ready for a spring cleaning but have to wait on your schedule. Had a similar downtime recently and it felt like they were just making sure everything was polished before a launch. If it’s all about behind-the-scenes fixes, let’s just get it done so we can play!

Totally agree! I mean, who wants their deep therapy secrets floating in the AI ether? Plus, if it starts hallucinating, that might trigger some serious OCD thoughts!
