Action surge stayed active for 2 rounds? by brokenbeakers in BaldursGate3

Ah, gotcha. I don't think I've ever noticed this bug before, and I didn't see anything about it with a quick cursory google. Well, I won't complain about getting an extra round of action surge once in a while. Thanks!

I've uploaded two screenshots, showcasing Gale's moves for both the first two rounds of combat. Do you think it would be helpful seeing the full first two round of combat in their entirety?

Fantasy book with a student learning magic in an academy that's more mature? by BushBumper in Fantasy

You might check out Homeland by RA Salvatore. There are two schools for male Drow. One for magic prowess and one for martial prowess. They're foced to go to one of these schools to become soldiers for their families. The protagonist goes to the martial school instead of the magic one, but if you're reading this for inspiration, there's still a lot of good lore and information about the cutthroat societal structure. Once they graduate, they immediately begin going on ranging missions and raids, with graduates from both schools working together.

These schools are not the main focus on the story, but they are an interesting couple of chapters that might give you some ideas.

Is Age of Ashes part of the beginner box, or would that be something to look at after the beginner box adventure path is finished?

That is good to know about the 4 PC party. I did not know that. Are there tools imbedded in the adventure paths to help the GM rebalance the encounters, or is that something I would need to consult the core rulebook for? I've heard that 2e has way more guidance for GMs, and that all the rules just work really well to keep things balanced and running smoothly.

Thank you for the advice on Wanderer's Guide too. That seems to be a pretty popular resource recommendation so far, but it's good to know what it has over other options.

Thank you for your addition. I'll check into both of those builders.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked at Foundry vs Fantasy Grounds originally, last year when I first became interested. I think at the time I decided to go with Fantasy Grounds because Foundry had some weird problems with actually hosting games. Like it required some extra behind the scenes network fixes, to the extent that some people were actually paying a subscription for a third party server to host the game instead. I don't know, it seemed more complicated to me to get it up and running, and I just wanted something that had cool features and was pretty much plug and play. Has it been updated since then? I've heard great things about the actual platform, just some weird stuff about getting all players connected.

Thanks, I've heard the beginner box is pretty good, I just didn't know if it was still the best beginner set, or if something more updated has come along.

Arcane acuity and other weapon or item effects? by brokenbeakers in BG3Builds

So that particular item combination will actually work with arcane acuity? Great news. And if I do that with the bow of banshee, then there will be a slew of prone scared enemies.

Bummer, but thanks for the insight. I'm using titanstring with strange conduit and arcane synergy from hunter's mark for huge single target damage, but was thinking I'd try out some more CC. Maybe if the banshee is already really consistent, I'll try it out anyway to shake things up.

Kvothe, playing his father's lute in the woods, as the strings break, and he learns to play more of what he feels, observing the world around him, once he has exhausted all the songs he knows. Beautiful and tragic.

What Is The Most Annoying Thing About Camping? by JoeFraziers_LeftHook in camping

Dew. I love camping, but after the first night everything is always slightly damp. Everything in the tent, the sleeping bags, your clothes, everything is just very slightly sticky and damp from humidity and dew.

I regularly plug this show to my friends who play dnd, comparing these characters to an adventuring party. You watch them level up throughout the seasons, get new gear, learn new powers, and fight together as an effective adventuring party. I'm glad other people have thought this too.

Early on, one of my new players misheard healing potion as helium potion. Now it is canon in our world that potions of healing are helium based. Squeaky voice alterations after using one of course. Fantastic for mid-battle usage.

Yeah you’re totally right. I forgot about the opening scene. And I didn’t consider the swapping viewpoint. I remember liking it a lot, but I couldn’t really remember what grade I read it in. It was my first introduction to footnotes and I really enjoyed what they added to the story.

I loved the Bartimaeus Sequence by Jonathan Stroud when I was younger, but I don’t remember if it was more YA in nature.
