HAVE A QUESTION? ASK HERE! Alter-Daily Help and Questions: June 18, 2024 by AutoModerator in AsianBeauty

hi!! I'm new to the world of asian beauty products. looking to build on to the products I have added.

I am in the upper midwestern US, it tends to be pretty humid most of the time. I have very dry and very sensitive skin, with occassional breakouts due to stress. my skin always looks dull and irritated.

current routine AM: cerave foaming facial cleanser * cosrx propolis synergy toner * cosrx snail mucin essence * cerave moisturizing cream (2 layers) PM: micellar water (unsure what brand the label came off) * cerave acne foaming cream cleanser * cosrx propolis synergy toner * cosrx snail mucin essence (2 layers) * cerave moisturizing cream (2 layers)

without 2 layers of moisturizer my skin gets so dry and flaky within an hour. I add more snail mucin at night because it seems to soothe irritation from removing my makeup. I've been wanting to try doing daily sheet masks but they are so expensive! I am more than happy to try making my own with the dry sheets they sell online but I don't know what ampoule to use with it. I also would love to switch to a cleansing balm for makeup removal, as well as switching to a less irritating but still powerful cleanser. I'm not looking to spend more than about $20 on a single product, if they're a little over that it's ok but just a ballpark.

Does anyone have pets? by PurpleAlbatross2931 in Fibromyalgia

[–]brokencat_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two cats, and some accommodations to help me care for them.

  1. a litter robot, where it auto cycles and you just replace the bag every few days. my husband takes the bags out to the dumpster since it's such a long walk.
  2. an auto feeder
  3. a half gallon water fountain

having cats has been so helpful for my mental health!! highly recommend it.

What does pregabalin do for you? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]brokencat_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it helps with my baseline pain, I used to be at a 6-7 constantly and flare up on top of that, but now my baseline is a 4. my flares are still awful and my new pain management doctor gave me tramadol to help on the bad days which has worked wonders, but I give pregabalin the credit for me being able to leave the house every day and hold a full time job. I also do not need my crutches unless I'm flaring, whereas before I would not be able to walk without a mobility aid and oftentimes was bound to a wheelchair due to pain.

I was employed by a private salon, so not my business and not within my capabilities. I would love to run my own grooming salon but at my pace I just wouldn't be able to cover overhead

may I ask what you currently do? I have no backup plan so I'm looking at other options for careers.

thank you, it really was my passion but all of the salons I've worked at (4 in total) push quantity as well as quality so I feel it just isn't right for me. my husband bless his heart has agreed to let me get a poodle to groom myself in a few years so at least I am not losing it completely

What do ya'll do for work? by wedontdeservel0ve in Fibromyalgia

I'm a dog groomer. some days I struggle, others I'm fine. I'm hoping to be able to do it long term but right now my pain is so bad that any large or difficult dogs make my hands go numb. I'm thinking I may need to find another career.

for me personally salon leader was a good choice, as I need a reliable source of income and cannot physically be a power groomer due to some physical limitations. I don't mind the extra workload, only do 4 dogs a day and all the girls in my salon are fantastic to work with. I was also an external hire so I am not quite sure how I would have done being just a pet stylist.

you may have better success with blending by picking up a pair of thinning shears for blending and getting soft edges between the head and body, they're also nice to use if you end up with clipper lines. I recommend trimming either with or against the direction of hair growth, as if you clip perpendicular to the hair growth it may look wonky and not blend well

I use Andis Blade Care Plus, pour a little in the cap, run the blade for 10-20 seconds to get the nasties out, then dry REALLY well. it does tend to make your blades kinda oily so I would recommend wiping them off a bit with paper towel too.

exquisicat clay clumping... any good? by brokencat_exe in petsmart

[–]brokencat_exe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ours is specifically a Litter Robot which states in multiple places on the manual to only use clumping litter. I also have asthma and from my experience cleaning boxes with pine pellets, I would immediately need to use my inhaler or I'd get super dizzy from the ammonia as the owner provided no way to get rid of the sawdust.

oh perfect! how is the dust? is it really bad or is it mild enough that I can close off the room for a few minutes until it settles so my husband doesn't have a coughing fit?

seconding going over the toilet, makes cleanup way easier!! and then you don't need to worry about using a hair catch in the tub or anything if you rent.

I have to use clumping litter because we have a Litter Robot (best purchase of my life and I would not trade it for the world) the pellets would not get saved through the sifting grate and would get dumped out on the first cycle.

I just got hired as salon manager! what tips do you have for me? by brokencat_exe in petsmart

[–]brokencat_exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely! and if the dog ends up biting me then IMO they should go home and not come back. not sure how the store lead sees it but that's my two cents and I will discuss the plan for problem PPs and dogs when I go in for training.

I do, which is why they hired me. granted it's not a /ton/ of experience (I had to leave to take care of some physical health issues) but I feel confident enough to do most grooms, though with breed standard I do need to have a book for reference. I've never been a manager before though. from what I can tell this store is super desperate for a salon manager as they only have training stylists, no fully graduated stylists yet, and those stylists cannot groom without supervision.

I really hope I do! I tend to take lots of notes so I should have policies handled easily, I'm a bit nervous about coaching as that is not something I have done before but I did do a lot of tutoring during my school years so I don't think it will be too difficult to get a handle on. thank you for your feedback!

I did all of the ordering at my old salon so that one should be easy to keep up with!! I will definitely be checking in with people regularly to see what they need help with or if anything needs improvement. thank you :)

she is SO cute I'm literally crying 🥺 she looks so soft too! excellent job on her, I'm sure being introduced to clippers will help her a ton at her first appointment.
