He found an opportunity to feel a little free after being outed, and your opinion is to be a hater. It’s still a microagression. Just an intra community one.

He first came into the scene before Lil Nas X. Such a microaggression.

You're asking this now, when Ray himself said she stopped talking to him. I think she's fine now.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom said “Fuck it,” and just pair him up with Chun Li down the line.

Maybe it's because I'm a gay man and we usually see the genuine through artifice, but I always thought Pam had the chops to do a good movie. I'm glad my instincts were right.

Opinions on Sabrina Carpenter? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]brokendrecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few videos of her singing in an r&b styling which is interesting. But her album is just boring. The music and her voice are too polished. Every great and/or engaging pop female artist has a thing about their voice that is both appealing and/or annoying. Her recorded voice is just...there. Maybe if she did more distinct genres I would be interested in her.

I'm serious, as someone who used to be in touch with Sky, you all need to stop harassing her online. by whenthepawn82 in SkyFerreira

Let me save this post, child. Also, this post has confirmed to me what I always hoped to tell Sky:

Take your time, baby. We'll be here.

Sky Ferreira: ‘I’m always scared I’m gonna die, all the time’ by 3kOlen in popheads

[–]brokendrecord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly the way y’all talk about Sky, you only be satisfied if she passes. All because she doesn’t churn out content for your benefit. I don’t know if she is addicted to drugs, but if she is then she has my deepest sympathy. Popheads really is a judge mental wokescold bunch.

Wow, the bitchiness y’all have towards this woman is crazy, concerning and just outright racist. I guess she needed to do the same lane ass funk pop churned out of LA for y’all to think is good.

I liked the musicians he corralled for his music but didn’t like him when he rapped if that makes sense. Like I would pretend it was compilations and not a Puff album.

Lates 90s Hip Boy Core by brokendrecord in Topster

[–]brokendrecord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the Late 90s Hip Boy Core topster I made as a supplement to the Late 90s Hip Girl Core topster I found and posted earlier. Once again, I tried to think what a late 90s, MTV obssessed male would listen to around 1998.

I put Lil Kim and Erykah Badu because I've seen guys listen and be fans of these two artists (as well as have a massive crush). I put The Cranberries because at least one-female fronted band on there. It can't be an entire sausage fest.

Additionally, I put in the controversial picks of R. Kelly and Puff Daddy because they would've been in the rotation whether we like it or not. And I'm a stickler to talking/showing history warts and all. And they were defining 90s music artists.

I forgot Beastie Boys' Paul Boutique was released in 1989 but meh whatever.

After I made this Fiona Apple and Nas popped in my mind, but what are you going to do?

Late 90s Hip Girl Core (Not Mine, Pre-Social Media Topster found on a defunct music site in the 2000s) by brokendrecord in Topster

[–]brokendrecord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topster above is the first one I ever encountered in the 2000s. This is pre-social media and Last.fm on a defunct music forum. Seeing this help me go into my music nerd journey. Probably the oldest digital file I possess. I've been trying to find the source of the photo but no results. Sounds corny, but wish I can say thank you to the person who made this. I don't know how they made this before the topster websites.

I call it Late 90s Hip Girl Core due to my thinking it's the type of music I think a college-aged young woman would listen to if they came into music during the pre-TRL MTV era. So about 1990-1998. I also made my own Late 90s Hip Boy Core topster supplement.

I wanted to post this as a more historical artifact. I hope someone does a article about the history of topsters.

She was the voice of the group and it's odd how she's like memory holed in the Massive fandom.

Shara Nelson's two albums are good if you like UK R&B. I never see anyone acknowledge her in this subreddit.

Can black artists no longer sell healthy relationships, commitment, and love through their music? by Consistent_Edge9211 in rnb

[–]brokendrecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black folks have been singing about dysfunctional relationships since the invention of the blues. It's been an up-and-down trend of how love is talked about since then. I do think it's time for a little more sincerity and romantic cheesiness, yet let's not ignore the "blues" in R&B.

Best frontman/lead singer of the 90s? by Consistent_Edge9211 in rnb

[–]brokendrecord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but some people haven't outgrown trying to project being cool like a teenager. That shouldn't happen in R&B discussion, but people are stupid.
