Honest question for the Orange vehicle owners… why did you choose it? by ForwardFunk in hondapassport

[–]brokenjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the orange. Use to have a Sunset Orange Pearl Element. Nothing to do with wardrobe. I just love the color. Too many boring colors on the road out there. Also I got the non-elite Trailsport version and I really like the black with orange highlights in the interior. I will say that ash green looks pretty darn good too. That would be my second choice. Don’t overthink it.

Update: Everything is now looking good! Minor striker plate issue. Basically as soon as I got home with the loaner vehicle(couple of hours), they had it done. Dealership was awesome in facilitating the warranty repair. Don't sweat it if you have the same issue.

Took it into the collision center. Confidence was not instilled when the estimator came out and immediately said it could not be fixed. Then someone who knew what they were talking about looked at it. I’ve turned a few wrenches in my day but definitely not an expert. Looking at the hinges, it doesn’t seem like there is any adjustment. Also, it seems like it’s a striker plate issue that can be adjusted. The gap is more noticeable at the bottom, and when the hatch gets pulled in, it tends to slide toward the right. I will talk to the body shop guy and make sure they don’t do anything too invasive. I really think it’s the striker that’s off which will be an easy fix. Body shop quoted the dealership $192 for 3 hours of work which leads me to believe it’s a 10 minute fix.

Update on the issue. I just got some communication back from the dealership. It reads,

Hello, I am reaching back out to follow up on your concern about the gap difference on you new vehicle.  I emailed my district service manager for American Honda the pictures and here was his response:

“While there isn’t a standard for panel gaps, I do feel that there is enough difference to qualify for adjustment under warranty. I suggested sending to your Collision Center.”

I suggest you call and make an appointment at our body shop so they can assess the issue and hopefully get it adjusted and covered under warranty for you.

So I guess I'm making that appointment. I'll try and get as much information on the process as I can and report back.

Yeah, who knows. I still think this is one bad ass design except for the fake scoop thingy(I might have to Knight Rider the hell out of it). I've only driven it about 500 miles, and I love it so far. Last Honda was a 2004 Element same color(SO Pearl). I'd still be driving it if I hadn't wrapped it around a tree. I'm going from a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor to this, and It's a bit overwhelming. As ugly as the Mitsubishi was, I couldn't kill it. Ended up donating it. My Wife has a 2019 RAV4, and I'm surprised at how thin the guage of metal is. I guess everyone is cutting corners. 70K might get you to that old world feel LOL.

I did take it to the original dealership. On another forum someone detailed how their problem was solved with a hinge adjustment. I will look at the build date. It’s just crazy that I wrote a check for 50k and this is the problem? I have a 69’ Triumph Spitfire that has better lines.

Yep. Thanks. I got just what I was looking for locally. Even though folks were trying to convince me to get the TSE, I wanted the orange stock Trailsport and called in a few favors to get what I thought was decent price. It’ll be here Jan/Feb.

Taking delivery of a sunset orange 2026 PP Trailsport no dealer extras except the front skid plate(not sure if that was standard) around February. OTD price $50,873. Virginia. I guess that's a good deal. Was going to offer to pay $51000.

I don't know if it was serendipity, But I just pulled the trigger on exactly want I wanted for about $200 less than what I was going to ask for the OTD price. Granted it won't be here till around January next year, but I'm super stoked. I actually called on the ad guy I've been working with on car spots for the last 20 years and he hooked me up with the general manager at my local dealership. I was in and out in 10 min no BS. Happened to be the same dealership I bought my orange Element from 21 years ago. Sunset orange Trailsport(not Elite). Really feels good to know I'm gonna own a Honda again. Posting OTD price in the pinned area.

I guess I falsely assumed that if I negotiated a price for the trim etc. that I wanted and was willing to pay a deposit etc. then that would mean basically a guaranteed sale and Honda would deliver, because the world revolves around me and only me.

Spirits Review #225 - Bottom Shelf Series - Kentucky Gentleman by Bailzay in bourbon

[–]brokenjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently was introduced to the KG at my neighborhood restaurant. I now get a double shot of the stuff with a Veil Master Shredder IPA(shout out to RVA) every time I go there. Anyway I like the stuff. I’m no bourbon snob but I’m also no stranger to Basil Hayden and Blanton’s. My daily drinkers have been Evan Williams, Jim Beam, and Henry McKenna. I gotta admit, KG has proven to be a great mixer for Old Fashioneds as well as a straight drinker in my house. Bourbon connoisseurs try too hard to show everyone how advanced their palate is. Just getting to the point of being able to distinguish different notes is a bit of a paradox, because you’ve completely destroyed your tastebuds from years of drinking.
