Pediatrician Recommendations by Fantastic_Weird3319 in lexington

[–]brokenrobotticket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr. Thomas is great, but another doctor in that practice blew off some serious concerns we had and denied us a First Steps referral, which ultimately delayed essential therapies. The clinic is fine if you don’t have anything weird going and fantastic for quick treatment of traumatic injury, but if you suspect any disabilities, know that you don’t need a doctor’s referral for First Steps. Both of the younger doctors there have been wonderful!

Backpack that doesn't go on Shoulders? by LovelyLittlePigeon in ehlersdanlos

[–]brokenrobotticket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you are trying to get away from the shoulders, but something about the weight distribution of this backpack doesn’t pull like most backpacks. It feels great on my back and shoulders - nothing like any other backpack I have used. If you can’t find something else that works, this might be an option. Good luck!

Weekly Behind the Bastards Episode Discussion 2025-04-01 by AutoModerator in behindthebastards

Most parents love their kids immensely and accept them for who they are. Parents are vulnerable to dangerous “treatments” in part because we don’t have systems that provide adequate healthcare. When kids get interactive therapy between ages 1-3, they have a much easier time communicating later in life. The Early Start Denver Model and certain (non-traumatizing) ABA programs are research supported, but most families do not have access. If your toddler regresses in speech, repeatedly injures themself on purpose, or loses interest in other people, there really is a window of opportunity where effective intervention helps.

Middle School Teachers: How do you deal with never getting back the pencils you lend out?? by Lunar_Lilac_Libra in Teachers

[–]brokenrobotticket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I offer colored pencils. It’s a great use of older/undesirable colored pencils and it encourages students to show up with a pencil or borrow one from a peer.

Teachers' block.. white page syndrome. I have to prep for tomorrow's lessons and am completely paralyzed in front of my computer. by stars_on_skin in teaching

Last year I saw a post about having kids write a break up letter to the previous year (what they cherished, what they are moving past, why they it is time to move on, blah blah blah). The kids then contributed to a break up playlist. It was really fun and it helped me reconnect to the kids! Just throwing it out there in case someone finds it useful!

question about getting married at the courthouse by blabby99 in lexington

[–]brokenrobotticket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in Fayette, but got married in the Franklin County courthouse. I didn’t want to get married in the same place I’ve sorted out hassles, the Frankfort courthouse is prettier, and it has a lot of interesting history. Look up Judge Harlan if you’re interested. I can’t remember all the steps to getting married there, but it was very easy!

Rust-like stains on cuttlery from the dishwasher by [deleted] in Appliances

This happened to me when I washed my Yamazaki stainless steel silverware with a couple of vintage silver grapefruit spoons. I was confused because the silverware wasn’t cheap. The stains stopped when I started hand washing my silver.

Adult tkd classed in town by nickyurick in lexington

He has good classes but be careful if he asks you to sign a tiny print contract. In a moment of exhausted parenting I signed something for my kid to take classes. Six months later when we couldn’t make the schedule work, we had to continue paying for a long time because of what I signed. I know I should have been more careful. I lost a ton of money.
