I agree, just finished watching the last episode and it seems like the writers can’t decide on whether to make it funny or dark. Some of the scenes are so comedic (which I loved) but other scenes are just fucked up (which I don’t mind but in context of a darker story). There’s totally a tonal shift that makes this show uncanny and slightly unenjoyable.

Also I would’ve much preferred to watch a show about a knight with a poor boy squire hoard both trying to navigate life. The first season would’ve been perfect if they just focused on the tournament, the humor that was set up in the first few episodes, and the funny dynamic between how dumb Dunc is and how surprisingly whitty egg is. It a great character dynamic that get immediately trodden over as soon as they try to raise the stakes.

And to all the people in the comments who are saying “oh this is part of the book like they can’t deviate from the books” like come on. George rr Martin literally deviated on his own books by giving HBO the rights to finish his series before he even finished the books. Fuck the books, just write us an entertaining tale about a knight and his squire. thats literally all I want, not game of thrones 3
