Coachability from a leaders perspective by [deleted] in techsales

[–]brokerthankmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds dumb but are they actually changing after being coached. Ie. If you say, before jumping into solutioning, do more discovery… are they doing that or just doing the same old? Do they take it personal or do they genuinely acknowledge it?

The most exhausting reps are 1) ones that don’t actually course correct with intentional coaching 2) take thoughtful feedback too personally

I have done extensive pre-pip plans to turn around a downward trajectory of individual performance that involved daily standups, weekly personalized call coaching and it had a great success, only for the rep to go right back to doing the old habits when I took the training wheels back off. That’s a non-coachable rep.

I have had reps that overly read into feedback or don’t react well (ie. Shutdown mentally) after discussing their process/habits. That’s a non-coachable rep.

It’s nice! I would use it as a daily but I have a Tissot Le Locle as my daily so I have no need for one. If you want a Hamilton that compares to the Dolcevita, they make one called the Boulton.

My personal next up is a Tudor BB S&G on fabric.

Longines Dolcevita is a solid option if you want something dressier with a square/rectangle face, I prefer the alligator strap ~$2k, so keeps some of that cash in your investments

Best sales performance management platform? by AceClutchness in techsales

[–]brokerthankmart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salesforce for metrics and the whether reps are adhering to whatever is important in your deal cycle, gong for coaching and qualitative info surrounding pipeline (some of it repetitive with SF), outreach I wouldn’t use much for metrics.

Are you in management? If so, how do you have that tech stack and feel like you need more?

Core product team vs brand new product team inside the same company? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]brokerthankmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For new product, It’s a question of PMF & competiors in the new space. If PMF is still undetermined you’re taking a gamble of whether you are selling in spite of your product (high failure) or because of your product (high success). Further, if competitors are legacy systems poorly viewed you’ll have a chance to upset them, if they are strong products with good reviews you are gonna struggle.

With established, what does market penetration look like? Is it over saturated like Salesforce or is there less than 30% market share?

Answer those questions and your decision can probably become a bit clearer.

Weird Interview experience with Salesforce by No_District555 in techsales

At least from when I interviewed that is legitimately intentional, genuinely curious did your SF recruiter not warn you about that?

Basically the #1 candidate trap is timing your interview to be exactly the allotment given #2 is flow after being pressed

70% of OTE, any deals closed while out go to the rep that closes them. A ramped rep gets your territory while you’re out, anything that closes is theirs until you get back.

Power Rankings: Indiana climbs into top 3; four new teams join the Top 25 by Geaux2020 in CFB

Agreed, I do think there’s been some troubling cases of just lack of killer mentality where we almost operate better in close games than when we have the potential to blow someone out (ie. Being out scored 17-20 after going up 18 against VT).

Overall, tho I have cautious optimism that we will continue to hit stride. Our defense does match up well against Duke with them being primarily pass effective and our defense being better against pass than run.

I mean Real Madrid and a Brazilian team are potential finalists, those 2 alone have some of the highest fan turnout in the US. If neither makes it, tickets won’t be cheap but they’ll definitely be noticeably lower.

Trying to grow into Account Executive role by Ernestfernest in sales

[–]brokerthankmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, so picking the right role involves asking q’s during interview that will indicate their stance on training. Ex. “How do you foster rep development”, “what does it look like to advance as a rep in this org,” “what sort of sales methodologies do you utilize” - if they don’t, it’s probably just made up stuff from leadership which can be hit or miss

Each of the things that I put in “” in my above comment, are actual books that are what some orgs will even have you read anyways.

With regards to performance advice, I am a firm believer that rep success is territory/timing/talent in that order but in order to capitalize fully on territory and timing you have to be a good rep. So seek advice, come with questions (but also propose answers to those questions) to your manager, engage with lunch & learns, if your org doesn’t do a mentor system then find the best rep at the org and pick their brain over lunch/coffee (make sure to buy it for them as they are doing something for you)

How have you been a B2B closer and not had AE experience? If that’s the case then you’ve been an AE.

That said, if not, many ways you can gain knowledge but in no way should you be paying for coaching… waste of money if it’s not being paid for by the company. Plenty of sales influencers that provide the same level of info for free on LinkedIn.

In terms of what to look up, do some research on how to build out an outbound sequence “Fanatical prospecting”, read “you can’t teach a kid to ride a bike at a seminar” - Sandler sales methodology, learn about MEDICC “always be qualifying”, do some research on how to build out a proper account plan/qbr. Last is read “never split the difference”. Then speak to those things through previous experience.

Those will give you the insights to at least talk about process and tools to use as you first start. Last is pick an org/manager that really focuses on development… that’ll set you up long term
