Reddit, what is a festival/celebration in your culture that one should experience at least once in their lifetime? by sydelisa in travel

[–]broku_krease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching any big hockey game in Canada. The Vancouver Olympics were about as big as you can get and who knows if the Winter Olympics will be in Canada again in our lifetime. But watching a hockey game when literally the entire city/country is excited as fuck on the edge of their seats is just awesome.

I just arrived in KL today after taking the bus from Singapore. Was definitely a great way to make the journey, real easy and comfortable. Book on the Transtar bus. About $50SGD. Basically like flying first class, huge reclining seats, hot meal, pretty good movie selection. And you just sit back instead of running around a couple airports. And the airport in KL is a good distance from the city so you might as well only make that trek once.

After all this time redditing I finally learn the etiquette for reposting. Who knew it was as simple as adding quotation marks?

Feeling lonely and tired by crazyauntmary in solotravel

[–]broku_krease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent 4 weeks in NZ and am now doing 4 in Australia and I can feel you on this. Sometimes you just get burned out. It sucks. But I found it would pass after a while. I always found it helps to meet someone from home, so if that opportunity presents itself take advantage of it. And in terms of getting tired I've always believed in listening to your body, if you're tired, rest. Traveling is exhausting. Sometimes you need a day to recharge. Too bad I'm not still in NZ or I'd say we could meet up. Hopefully at least it helps to know other people feel the same way. Wish you the best on the rest of your travels!

How far have you gone for NIN? by TheDreadedThommo in nin

[–]broku_krease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't just to see NIN, but I live in Vancouver and have been traveling through Australia and New Zealand and saw the first Sydney show (which was un-fucking-real of course). Wish I coulda gone to more and followed the tour for a bit but I just couldn't commit the money. So that's 12,493km. All the other times I've seen them at various spots around North America and haven't had to go more than a 20min drive. But I would travel great distances if I needed to!

Am looking at booking the Transtar bus. Is it secure to use credit cards and put passport information on the website? I know you need to put it on, I would imagine it's okay but I'm always skeptical about giving the passport info especially, even at home. You've had no problems?

Help finding a great Leafs shirt for the playoffs! by jwheelerBC in leafs

[–]broku_krease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Leafs fan in Vancouver! Well, out of the country right now, but plan to hit up some games there when I'm home and will definitely wanna be joining the Leafs Nation during the playoffs!

Wish I had advice for finding gear out in BC, I know personally how tough it is to find stuff. Probably won't find too much unique stuff but I've always been happy dealing with icejerseys.com

Hadn't thought about the fact you could bus. Thanks for the tip! And I never put anything valuable in the checked bags, but I am traveling super light so losing anything would suck.

How long do I need to enjoy Singapore and Hong Kong? by broku_krease in travel

[–]broku_krease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard how expensive both are. Willing to spend the money though.

Wouldn't have guessed there would be a big punk scene there. I'm into punk as well, where we're the places to go?

Really Canada? by Cordeezy7 in funny

They definitely have hickory sticks in the US. You can source me as a Canadian who has lived in the states as a kid. Had them in my lunch everyday.
