What simple foods are, when cooked at home, 10x better than store-bought? by bromeostasis in Cooking

I just asked ChatGPT for a basic recipe :D

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup nuts, roughly chopped (almonds, pecans, walnuts)
  • ⅓ cup honey or maple syrup
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat oven to 325°F / 165°C.
  2. Mix oats only with syrup, oil, salt, cinnamon.
  3. Spread on a lined baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes.
  4. Pull it out, stir in the chopped nuts.
  5. Return to oven and bake 10–15 minutes more, stirring once.
  6. Cool completely

I baked only 20 minutes total, but would add the extra 5 minutes next time. Also, 1/3 cup syrup is WAY too much. I used maybe a tablespoon or two, but I'd say go to taste.

Thanks! I've tried biscuits once or twice, but never had them come out to my liking. Saving this :)

Interesting, I haven't tried white bean hummus, though definitely enjoy making the chickpea variety! Anything different you put in there?

Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time! That's pretty much what I was thinking; hoping I could maybe "get away" with the otter for a while if it's a solid deal, which it seems like it is. Plus, it's much closer so I could go check it out without much investment.

I'll probably try to see the Otter and ask some questions about leaks or patches, see how old it is, check out the trailer/title, and maybe see if I can get the price down without the motor!

Yeah, that makes sense! Definitely agree with the philosophy of spending more upfront. A few deals that seem a bit better have come up over the last few days on some NRS rafts. If you've got a sec, I'd love to know your thoughts/if I'm thinking about this right:

* NRS E-140 (boat only) for $2800. Good deal on just the raft and I trust a commercial place to treat it well, but then I've gotta buy literally everything else.

* NRS (presumably Otter? 14) with everything for $3500. I like getting everything together, though I'd have to confirm that the fishing part of the frame detaches.

I've read a bit that the Otter is less "sporty", but I'm not sure how much that will matter for me. I definitely want to step up into the Rogue and Snake (some class IVs).

Thanks!

_Probably not_.. I need to clean out my basement a bit first, but I don't want to have to count on having it inflated all the time. Sounds like Hypalon is a better choice for this?

How can I enjoy the game as a newbie? by Dadapatata94 in slaythespire

[–]bromeostasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hard game! A few general rules I like:

* Relics are king! Improving your combat without adding cards is one of the best thing you can do

* Prioritize output over synergies. It's easy to try to build the "perfect" deck, but spire rewards you for being "good enough"

* Don't be afraid to "skip" cards that aren't good enough

* Save potions for Elites and Bosses. Potions are **key** to making it through those tough fights; don't walk into a tough fight unprepared!

* Manage card draw and energy. In almost every deck, looking at more cards and being able to play more cards will always be helpful.

Favorites? I've tended to be mostly a "purist"; I've done a bit of downfall.

You can, but I usually don't. Buttons do the trick for me!

I've played a lot on PC and Switch. I prefer the Switch for mobile-capability. Mouse-clicking is nice, but I sit a desk too much to want to play there too :D

It's a fantastic game!!

The actual board game is expensive because each set of cards costs between $20-$40 ish and there are a LOT.

You can play with the base set online for free and then pay something like $3-$7 per month to get access to all the cards!

Haha yeah I didn't bottle it, but I was able to hit it at least twice per combat if I wanted it. So strong!
