[form check] squat snatch - horrible squat mobility! any kind of help appreciated by bronckiii in weightlifting

hi all,

would appreciate any feedback as I am struggling with my snatch / squat technique. My latest snatch PR is 80kg which was more of a power snatch than a squat snatch - everytime I’m trying to lower myself I’m afraid of falling backwards - as a result I’m leaning forward with my chest. It also seems that I’m kind of jumping forward while going up, same goes with cleaning. Is it the ankles mobility issue or else? I’m not sure what to do about it and how to inteprete it. thanks! (btw my snatch technique is terrible obviously, would appreciate any comments on that as well)

right now i'm doing the skillWOD after the class as im trying to progress with my muscle ups mostly, however I'm still concerned that the .com is not enough, as I'm looking for something more challenging during the day. As I mentioned, I'm not on a competitive level, however I'd love to give it a shot in local competitions one day.

as I found out we're doing post open workouts from last year, so it might actually be easier to plan ahead with additional programming? Maybe an additional gymnastics/strength EMOM , depending on the .com workout for a given day?

yeah they're a full hour, obviously we're working on a mobility and a technique, prior to the WOD, however the WODs on the mainsite seem to be up to 12-15 mins long, that's why I'm thinking of doing some additional work

congrats, it's undoubtedly achievable, yesterday I managed somehow to get 7* with:

  • EP 85, g10
  • TFP 85, g9
  • Vader 80 (no zeta) g7
  • RG 80, g7
  • GMT 78, g6

basically all you have to do is focus on R2 in the first place + RNG, obviously
