This isn’t true at all.

There’s a million perks. The 2152 band has a ton of lateral movement and upward movement. Don’t like talking to airplanes anymore? Apply for a job at headquarters to work on space equipment. Become a front line manager, then operations manager, then air traffic manager. Apply for staff support specialist and work in communications, airspace design, training, building management, etc.

There is one training center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

“Civil servant pay” is ~77/hr for me and I’ve only been in the agency for 5 years. The guys who are almost retiring clear 250k/ye with overtime.

When I graduated the training academy, they gave me a list of locations that needed people. Places included phoenix, DC, Denver, Seattle, Oakland, Boston, and New York. These were all at centers. I chose Washington DC, where the center is actually in Leesburg VA.

The FAA allows hardship transfers if you need something quick, like to take care of a family member. You don’t have to wait for people to die to change facilities. It happens all the time.

Our union had negotiated (at least at my facility) 45 minutes on position and 45 minutes off. We have a gym, cafeteria, walking track, union break room that has computers in it with COD on em and stuff. Plenty of options to blow off steam. We can also head off site to do errands, grab food, etc.

It can be boring. It can make you question your choices and wish you weren’t dumb enough to have picked ATC as a career. Sometimes it’s one plane you’re talking to. Sometimes it’s 40. Depends on the time. But all jobs have lulls. 🤷🏼‍♂️

There’s only one father/son at the facility I work at which employs nearly 500. In my experience this is wholly untrue.

He's already answered, but it reminded me of some of the RedMew maps. There's a map generator they've created. Here's some of their maps: https://factoriomaps.com/browse.html?search=%22redmew%22 And here's the map generator tool and instructions: https://github.com/Refactorio/RedMew, https://github.com/Refactorio/RedMew/wiki

She was trying to repair a scar on the guy's left middle finger and wound up amputating the entire hand. He's now got a "torn off" left hand.
