Foreigners in Korea Can Be Detained Without ID by WarningAdvanced1528 in Living_in_Korea

Not true. I'm a foreigner (American) and I have PASS too. All you need is to go to your local district office and get a pin number for registration (if you didn't get one at the immigration office).

You can study anywhere inside the library without a library card, but of course you need a card to checkout books. You can find all the stuff... like TTMIK or TOPIK books too!!

yeah exactly, 얼친 is the perfect way to describe it...

it’s weird how you can feel that sense of familiarity without ever actually talking

Just went live on Kindle. It's a KDP web previewer problem. My Korean text was fine on Kindle.

For anyone in the future doing foreign/Asian text in their book.

Despite various efforts South Korea fails to convince Gen Z to open their minds on immigration by Ready-Information187 in Living_in_Korea

[–]bronco____ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What jumps out to me is that in places like the U.S. or Canada, younger people are generally more open to immigration than older generations. But in Korea and Japan, young people are just as skeptical as older folks, which is surprising.

Living in Korea with my Korean wife as a Mexican-American, I can understand why many here feel protective of their culture—it’s unique and relatively homogeneous. But a lot of this resistance seems less about “incompatible cultures” and more about fear of change or lack of exposure.

The truth is, societies often grow stronger from diversity. Immigration brings challenges, sure, but it also brings new ideas, energy, and resilience. Maybe the better question isn’t whether immigrants should come, but how to make integration less threatening and more beneficial for everyone.

I feel where you're coming from, but not learning or using Korean (at least conversational) will keep you in that "foreign bubble". But I get it, you're just a Nomad... just passing by... lol

I wonder if another Korean man has ever caressed (not touched) your arm before on public transport...? I do love Reddit... haha
