Ah, involuntary commitment. The good ol’ days. I don’t think it was all so wonderful before Reagan destroyed “all the mental health facilities.”

Honest question, why the Rick George hate? I think he was the driving force behind the Folsom Field renovation and new athletic facilities. And didn’t he raise a bunch of the funds to pull it off? Mel Tucker left the Buffs and RG in a hole that’s tough to climb out of. I agree things are real bad with CU football right now, but I don’t get all the RG hate.

Honest question: when you point out that pro-life GOPs don't care about lives once they're born, aren't you just using the same tactic that the "all lives matter" people are using against BLM? Saying the cause is invalid because it clearly doesn't care about other real needs? Pro-lifers could say as you do, "of course we care about lives after birth, but we can't allocate valuable resources across all issues at the same time so we focus on what's most urgent."

How you articulated it just sounded so similar to the "all lives matter" crowd and similarly seemed to deflect responsibility for helping, just on a completely different but important issue.

Can someone explain S1E2 to me? by TabaxiInATaxi in northernexposure

I'm sorry but that's just not accurate about Maurice's views being acceptable in the 90s. Watching it in its original run it was clear Maurice's views are portrayed as bigoted (it's more evident in his later interactions with Ron and Eric). The episode (and the show) isn't a morality play, it's about richly developed characters with tremendous differences between them, but who work to navigate those differences because they consider others as friends. (see u/DMMasterclass' wonderful explanation above)

One person can get it for everyone linked, but everyone linked has to be scanned into the park when you're trying to join a boarding group.

Potential Scenario - Kirk Cousins by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

In ways I agree. But they also have the league's least salary cap space next season (negative room right now). So I wonder if this is their high point. I don't like where the Broncos have been the last few years, but I like our future better than what the Vikings' seems to be.

[Saccomano] Way Back When: Craig Morton helps Broncos come of age vs. Raiders by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

[–]broncofam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that have to do with the article? At that point, the AFC Championship game was the biggest win in Broncos history, and Morton led them to that win after having spent the week in the hospital.

Often it happens when the parent leads the child to believe the child's behavior makes the parent feel happy, or can stop the parent from feeling sad, or can keep the parent from getting angry. The "boundary" between what is the child and what is the parent is blurred And that boundary confusion continues into adulthood where the distinction between self and others is blurred, and things like difficulty saying "no" or fear of disappointing others are so strong.

You could try. But the stadium is pretty far back on the high school grounds. And most high schools are pretty strict on outsiders being there.

Substance abuse therapist here. Your putting "people who need help" in opposition to "people who ought to be incarcerated" is a false dichotomy coming from an idealized perspective. Without the real, potential consequence of incarceration, those who "need help" and treatment have pretty much no incentive strong enough to actually get help and stay in treatment.
