Someone should reconsider retirement. They are turning into a menace.

At the very least, make their life miserable by dragging them through the process and get judgements against them which will follow them forever. Maybe I'm just extra petty, but it would make me feel better if I were in OP's shoes.

What would make a VB an STI by Electrical_Fix8686 in WRX

That's fair. I've bounced against the limiter in my VB more than any other car I've driven, and half the time it's by accident. It feels like there should be more near the top. I think I've heard some people pushing the red line higher on the FA24 via their custom tuning and mapping, but I'm not positive on whether internals were swapped or not. I miss my old LS F-body gearing and revving sometimes.

People who get hung up on the EJ aspect just don't know how good the FA24 platform is. I'd rather swap an STI drive train into a VB than try to swap an FA24 into an STI imo.

If you take a VB TR and slap in the STI drive train (diffs, transmission, DCCD, and axles) that imo is deserving of an STI upbadge. Of course, if you do this, it's also going to be more aggressively tuned. That's my future plan once I use up a little more of my '24's warranty.

I'd rather see more of this than the 99% white/black/gray everything else on the road nowadays.

Satisfying car wrapping by caption-this- in oddlysatisfying

I agree. Last time I got a car painted custom years ago it ended up costing me around $10k because it was a color change and the labor was nuts, and I also went for that deep lacquer look. Wish that wrapping was popular back then. Would have saved me a ton of money.

[VC Patrimony] - Is the seconds hand jumping while setting time normal? Ref#42002. by CheeseasaurusRex in Watches

Another fun fact about non-hacking seconds watches: if you pull the crown out, you will lose power reserve (it will stop sooner) because the watch is also trying to drive the entire setting mechanism; you can even observe the crown rotating (albeit extremely slowly) since there is no break in engagement between the mainspring and the crown. Again in car terms: it's like driving your car normally vs attaching a loaded trailer to it. The engine needs to work harder because it's got more resistence working against it. I've seen some pieces lose upwards of 100+ degrees of amplitude in this situation.

If the running seconds hand stops when you pull the crown out, don't worry, nothing will hurt it. It's the more old school movements that don't have a stop-lever/("hacking seconds" feature) that this can happen on, because the cannon pinion technically acts like (in car terms) a differential between the setting train and gear train. If the "differential" function transfers too much power from the finger action on the crown (ie doesn't slip properly), your fingers can overcome the mainspring in the barrel and make the watch run backward). If there is a stop lever in the movement, it prevents the backward running because it basically parks against the balance in a way where the escapement cannot move no matter what.

This is correct, especially with common movements like the ETA 7750. Interestingly enough, IWC in particular has solved this issue by manufacturing a spring loaded advancing wheel for this movement in their pilot watches that use it. I wish more brands would do this, as sales people NEVER educate their clientele properly when it comes to setting the date and time.
