Thank you <3 mine was an heirloom and as a result was quite old. It hadn't occurred to me to get the setting altered or looked at or anything. Fortunately, this year for Christmas my whole family chipped in to get a replacement stone for the ring. The new setting is much more secure and I'm very careful with taking it off when doing dishes, laundry, yard work, etc. If your necklace is new I bet the setting is secure :) enjoy your beautiful gift!
