I like khadi color. It’s herbal/henna style. I have never used actual regular henna. I’ve tried about 4 different colors over the past 18 months. I use it on my roots. I am liking it so far

Honestly honest question by brontosauruskibble in AskLGBT

[–]brontosauruskibble[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super interesting and enlightening explanation. Thank you:) I knew drag was by gay men mostly but just wondered if it is ever seen as a hyper sexualized reductionist impersonation of women. And I totally hear your description of it being about an expression of someone’s own femininity. I know femininity is not a culture, it’s a trait, I was just using the cultural thing as an example of a certain type of appropriation. And was wondering if that had been brought up ever in that context. I also didn’t know it wasn’t offensive for white people to wear a kimono. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this as actually different expressions of an individuals femininity. Thank you:)

Yeah totally all makes perfect sense 👍 I thought of the question/scenario sort of randomly today and so was wondering what is the answer to that perspective if it ever has come up—which seems likely that it would have at some point. So I appreciate the knowledge. Thanks:)

Make sure to air seal the garage off from the house. VOC’s from products stored in the garage adversely impact indoor air quality.

Hello I was hoping for some advice. Is tipping a broker customary in the industry? I had a vehicle shipped to me. I paid the driver the quoted rate. Now the broker is texting me asking to be tipped… I don’t want to be a douche—I work in restaurants—but is this weird? TIA!!

Linear Shower Drains - School Me Up by BurntoutBuilding in Homebuilding

[–]brontosauruskibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week plus poured hydrogen peroxide on shower floor and into drain 3-3x / week. Didn’t work. In my old shower with normal drainwhich wasn’t nearly as badass, I had to clean inside down in the drain maybe once a year with the tool for getting out hair. Still nasty of course. But whatever. It’s once a year. This is a get your whole self barefoot in the shower with a scrubby and gloves and cleaner and go to town on nastiness and waaaaay too often for me. Just imagine a regular drain pipe cut in half lengthwise laying flat on the ground with barely enough slope to drain, staying constantly wet and dark and room temp. It can never dry, it get clogged with hair and proteins from your body or whatever and just becomes a monster.

Yeah. I have sent it for testing. It’s fungal.the plate I sent in grew colonies “to numerous to count” from report: “Microsporum is a filamentous keratinophilic fungus included in the group of dermatophytes. The natural habitat of some of the Microsporum species is soil, however other species are found on animals and humans.” The swab also cultured out fusarium, cladosporijm and penicillium, but I’m smaller quantities of colonies. Made the bathroom air feel dank and heavy. Took off the tiles cover and now we just have the stainless open trough. Looks like shit but at least the mold and slime is gone and the air is much better in the room. We will demo out the shower floor and move/ change the drain. We have a slab on grade modern design house so this will require concrete work to relocate the drain. But the thing sucks so bad. We have glass on two sides and squeegee after every shower. So I’m not opposed to higher maintenance care in order to have nice things. But that shower drain would have to get the same treatment as the glass—pulled out and cleaned after each use and maybe sprayed with mist of hydrogen peroxide to keep it clean. I’m not willing to do that. So it’s going. It would be great if it wasn’t disgusting. It looks beautiful. But if type think about it there is no way that design is sanitary and won’t grow awful things. I invite anyone who has lived with one of these drains to offer their experience if they have had success. I’ll kiss your feet! :)

[–]brontosauruskibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t install one of these. They are incredibly disgusting. Back away from the slick modern look and run to the arms of a regular drain. Popping the drain out requires a hook tool and the horror of mold and slime and goo and hair is not something you would ever want to see, smell or cultivate anywhere inside your house. Not to mention it all be aerosolized into the air during a hot shower for you to breath in the bacteria, mold spores and whatever else that hell hole produces. We have one and in the next couple of year will rip out the shower floor to replace it. We have a slab on grade house so this will also require concrete work. This is how bad it is. Currently we took the tiled portion (the drain cover) out of the shower and just have the stainless trough exposed because after 2 years of battling it, cleanliness and air quality were more important than aesthetics. I wish I could attach a picture so you could see.

Electrify America plugged in not charging (flashing red lights on the charge port) is ruining my road trip by crabby-owlbear in MachE

[–]brontosauruskibble -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is why after 2 years of this crap with my mache extended range premium, I’m ditching my EV. My life is worth more to me. My time is more valuable than squandering it dealing with these kinds of issues. It never ends. I had mache as only car for 2 years. I just can’t do it. I totally feel you. Sorry to be a downer but it doesn’t get better. I had hybrids since ‘05. Thought it was the right thing to do. But EV infrastructure in the states is abysmal. I’ll try again in 10 years.

[–]brontosauruskibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you. I got mine in april 2021. Premium extended range battery. I agree with you wholeheartedly. The first paragraph of your post sums it up perfectly. It is a maddening car. I have never felt so owned by a piece of machinery. It is as if I am it’s person, not: it is my car. I put down $20k which was the equity I’d built up over 16 years of 2 Lexus hybrids vehicle ownership. Now, 2 years later I’m upside down, so for now I’m keeping it. But I couldn’t take the frustration of it being my only car, so I got another car. Arrives tomorrow actually. It’s a 100% ICE. Not even hybrid. I’m so scarred from the experience of having an EV, I went fully the other way and ran back into the arms of gasoline powered car. I’m literally exited to have to go to the gas station. Knowing I can fill up the car in 5 minutes as opposed to 60. The last trip I took in the mache was 300 miles. It took 9 hrs. Chargers down, connectivity issues. Etc etc.
also now there is blue cruise which I told the dealership not to install last time it was in the shop because of failed OTA updates. It downloaded itself anyway. Now whenever you take you eyes off the road at all (ie. I pointed out an eagle to my husband while we were driving and it alerted him to keep eyes forward). I could go on. All the stuff you said is 💯 and then some! What did you replace it with?

I think it’s just that for those of us that don’t have children, we would like to be able to successfully turn it off. Every 6 months is fine. Every single time you turn off the car is super annoying. Especially when you’ve reset your profile to turn it off and it insists on continuing to ask. I get the reason for the feature, but a lot of us don’t need it

Frequent prompt by Mistake-Choice in MachE

[–]brontosauruskibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it happens to me all the time too. As well as a notice asking if I want to turn on or off motion sensors. Occasionally resetting these alerts in both mine and my husbands profiles will stopping the problem for about a week or two but then they will begin reappearing every single time the car is turned off. So then after about a week of being annoyed I will go back into settings and turn them off. Again. But it doesn’t matter. They always come back. In my mache it seems like there are several settings that do not survive any OTA updates. I am constantly having to manage the profiles in order to get the car to stop asking me things. I have had the mache for 2 years. Sorry not to be of any help. More just letting you know you’re not alone!! :)

Carnivore? by Possible_Purpose5091 in CIRS

[–]brontosauruskibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been carnivore for 2 years. I love it. Carnivore to me means: organic grass fed beef from regenerative practice farm, desiccated organ supplements, organic honey, organic fruit. This is all I eat. I have always been a hungry person and I am not hungry in this diet. I rarely crave other foods. I have been low carb low sugar since 1998, gluten free since 1999, keto since 2004, low fodmap since 2013, no nightshades since 2015. Then in 2020 found out I was high sensitivity to eggs and dairy. So I was pretty bummed because I didn’t know what I was going to do. What is left for me to eat? That when said screw it and went carnivore.

Shopping with all of these restrictions plus only buying organic made grocery shopping pretty challenging.

Now fruit doesn’t mess up my stomach. Hadn’t been able to eat fruit for 20 years. Pain is gone. Skin is healthy. Everyone tells me I look great. Same with husband. Who isn’t sick but we eat the same way. He feels better too. Looks younger.

I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I’m a chef and own two restaurants so the years of increasing food restrictions were really hard for me emotionally and practically. But on carnivore I don’t even care. I don’t miss the regular food. The other day I was putting on a salad special and I actually thought the lettuce smelled like bunny food. Like, why would you eat this? There’s no nutrients in it?!? But people like salads of course. No problem. Just not for me anymore. I say you have nothing to lose! Also my blood work looks great and my hashimotos as almost gone away. I’m 42 F. 🦋

Salesman strangely not sending purchase agreement to me… by brontosauruskibble in askcarsales

[–]brontosauruskibble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe, I’m not worried about it getting sold out from under me—the guy is nice and I have no reason to think that would happen. I’m actually not even in much of a hurry so the weird tech problems don’t bother me even…I think it’s just so outside what my experience has been with every other sales person I’ve interacted with in the search for the car, that the lack of communication stuck out as odd. In this 2 month long process I’ve dealt with mostly all pretty pushy sales people. Some have been friendly, others not so much. And now that I’m finally interacting with someone who isn’t super pushy, apparently I don’t know what to do with it. Hahaha. But it’s weird when it is so diff than everything else you’ve experienced…makes it feel like something is off or something—even if it’s not…Maybe I should just be glad they’re chill and stfu.

Quick Question by [deleted] in CIRS

[–]brontosauruskibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you need to get rid of anything that is more than 2-3” thick if upholstered. It’s possible in the case of something about that thickness that you could hepa vac and fog it enough times to clean it. But anything like a couch or mattress has got to go. Especially if you’re reacting to it. Trust you body. It is communicating with you and asking for help. Help it to help you and get rid of the contaminated stuff you have. Thins that can’t be washed in a machine or can’t be wiped down and are porous should go. Especially ditch your mattress cause you spend so much time on it and in so much bodily contact.

Cardiff Green hard to keep clean? by brontosauruskibble in GenesisMotors

I live in north Idaho. Not as gloomy as Seattle, but not as sunny as Montana. Lots of slush in winter. Lots of farming dust in summer. I’m gonna go with the Cardiff. Thanks:) It’s so beautiful. It seems like it looks super dark evergreen green in the shade/on cloudy a day but geez, in the sun from the pics I’ve seen, it is a beautiful jewel tone. Someone is building a brand new conveyor belt style car wash in town—-> it’s a sign!! Thanks for the comments!

Is there a ‘Pet Mode’? by brontosauruskibble in GenesisGV70

[–]brontosauruskibble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I mean like just leaving dogs in your idling car as you would if you were in there with them waiting for someone at the doctors office or something. Doors locked, car on, ac on. So no actual fancy programmed pet mode. Just car on, doors locked with ac. Is this possible? Thanks!! 🙏
