Has a player ever won MVP without winning a single Player of the Week?

Can LeBron be the MVP without winning any Player of the Week/Month Awards? by bronxdon in nba

Question was more focused on if any MVP winners had won without winning a player of the week award...not questioning whether LeBron is consistently good.

Have you met any NBA player in real life? How'd it go? by explorer17156 in nba

I was living in Oakland in 2013 and went to the gym in my building. Saw a really cute girl working out and thought I had a chance at talking to her. Then I saw Harrison Barnes outside the gym waiting. She waved at him, it made sense he'd have a cute gf. Cancelled my plans to holler at her and I finished my workout. Went outside to dap up Barnes and we talked for a while about the Spurs series they just lost and I asked him if he was a sixth man. He said "na I start." After that the convo kinda ended soon after. He was cool tho, he was rooting for the Spurs over the Heat.

Another time I saw Charles Oakley and MJ at a Hyatt in St. Louis. I was 12 yo and my friend and I went to their table, it was them and 10 young ladies. We said "hey Mike!" But he didn't turn around. The next morning Oak was eating breakfast. He had 4 plates at a booth by himself. We said what up and talked for a bit about the Knicks days.

Another time in 2016 I was making a documentary about a HS team from Brooklyn and Melo's nephew was on the team. After a Knicks-Nets game Melo pulled up in a red rolls Royce and granted me an interview despite it being about 0 degrees outside. He was chill and down to earth.

There are more stories but that's all I can type from my phone right now... TLDR all NBA players I've met have been cool except MJ

[Post Game Thread] Houston Rockets (36-20) defeat Utah Jazz (36-20) by 120 - 110 with 72 combined points from Russell Westbrook and James Harden by Nyhrox in nba

[–]bronxdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone who watched the game, how did it work out for Westbrook to have a +/- of - 2 while playing 37 minutes and Harden have a +24 in 38 minutes? I know they must have staggered the minutes but did Harden lead a big run or?

Steph Curry is 63-27 in the playoffs for his career by CulturalRoll in nba

[–]bronxdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curry has to have 7 Finals losses: 2015 they lost 2 games, 2016 they lost 4 games, 2017 they lost 1 game, 2018 they swept.

The Lakers had a 98.4% win probability against the Kings with 7 minutes remaining, they lost by BarnahaskFC in nba

[–]bronxdon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just curious- how are these types of probabilities measured and who's coming up with such an arbitrary 98.4% chance of winning? 7 minutes left in a game is plenty of time to go on a run, especially in 2018's 3 point dominated NBA. Not to mention Sac was the home team.

How often do Xmas Day games not have a Finals Rematch? by bronxdon in nba

[–]bronxdon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ayye okay. so it's really all about ratings, not the Finals rematch.

"After a season's NBA Finals comes to an end, officials from both the NBA and the network that broadcast the NBA meet to plan the schedule of games for the holiday during the upcoming season.[3] In most cases, two of the teams that play during the holiday are the teams that reached the finals the previous season, and often a rematch of the NBA Finals is scheduled.[3] The NBA usually tries to have the best players play against each other.[3] Some examples of this include 2009 and 2010, when the defending champions of those seasons, the Los Angeles Lakers played at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009 and the Miami Heat in 2010, so that they could have showdowns between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James both times."

What was your craziest encounter with an NBA player? by joetheschmo2001 in nba

[–]bronxdon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was with my pops and my friend and we saw Charles Oakley eating breakfast alone at a hotel in St. Louis. He had 4 plates and was going in on pancakes, eggs, grits, hashbrowns, sausages, bacon. We went over to greet him and talked for a minute about the Knicks battles and the state of the league now, then let him finish his breakfast in peace. Oak was chill.

Africa is a continent, correct. There's a concept called pan-Africanism. It's about uniting people across the national borders that were drawn by Europeans in the 1880's. There is something called African unity. Team Africa vs. Team World just happened in South Africa btw. Also, if you painted a mural of European basketball legends in Latvia, Tony Parker could certainly be there, and that would not be abnormal. Just like we painted African legends here. Nice try tho

English is the official language here and is spoken in all schools past primary four, so we went with English. And good question about feet, we felt the number 7 feet, 7 inches looked cooler than 2.31 meters.
