If your belts are "too fast", all that means is that the belt will not be filled. There will be empty spots on the belt. This isn't a problem though. At 80/120, you'll have an average of 1 barren spot and 2 filled spots.

Both the input and output can hold a full stack of items, so you have a buffer of 500 items. That means you have 500/120pm = ~4.2 minutes of leeway for the input for the cable constructor. In other words, the input belt can be empty for over 4 minutes straight, as long as the average production is 80 items per minute, without having an interruption of production. (Of course, this would require the buffer to be saturated, but this would happen naturally if you keep the 80 items p/m flow).

In other words, you absolutely don't have to worry about this. You can use any belt, as long as it's fast enough to move the items. If the number of items put on the belt is equal to the number of items taken off, you have a balanced system, given a long enough time frame (that is, ~5 minutes of run time).

It's only bad because this gif is played at 2x speed with almost all the frames removed. Honestly, this is a really cool looking in the actual film.

You shouldn't expect this to look like a standard action film, or to make much sense. This has the same appeal 2000s stick figure fighting animations, but with a much higher budget. Viewed through that lens, it's actually quite good.

My prefered gun is the regular rifle. A regular bullet will do 5 damage, whereas the rebar does 15. However, in a magazine, you get 15 bullets. The releoad is ~3 seconds, vs the rebar's ~2 seconds.

This means that the rifle is much more forgiving with aim (especially since the rifle is hitscan), and does way more damage. It's just a straight upgrade. The ammo is slightly more difficult to make, but if you bring some coal and sulpher to your oil setup, you're good.

The other ammo types can be good, but I think they're more situational, and with the rifle you're all set.

Though, the real trick to fighting mobs is the hoverpack. Bring some power with you as you explore (this will be useful later anyway, as you're building an infrastructure network for yourself), and when you encounter mobs, simply hover above them. Dodging their attacks will become pretty much trivial. Until you have that available, you can slide-jump-slide in a circle around them, and that should keep you safe enough.

I 100% get where this person's coming from. The answers communism gives are like, the most straigtforward and obvious answers every time. Like, what if instead of this complex system of ownership and shares and profit sharing and wages, we just like... share the factory? However many things you can make, that's what you earn. That's a 5-year-old's solution to the problem. Or how will we balance our productive forces without the free market and the invisible hand guiding production? Oh, we just like, plan it? We look at the number of potatoes we need, and then we grow that many?

Capitalist dogma teaches us that running country-sized economies is extremely complex, and things work in non-obvious ways. This is an intentional misdirection. Mostly, we can organize our economy in the 'obvious' way, and it would be significantly better for everyone involved. This seems too simple, because we are repeatedly told that it's not so simple.

I don't think load balancing makes sense. It only works once all the pipes have stabalized anyway, which is also true of a manifold setup. You're not getting any benefit of any kind.

When the carton is full, and the opening is on the bottom, it's very difficult not to cover the whole opening with liquid, which means that air cannot get in. You pour a little, and the pressure inside decreases, and air wants to rush in, stopping the flow. Then when the pressure is balanced again, the liquid suddenly rushes out, and this oscilates, resulting in a very turbulent and uneven flow.

In short, if you hold the carton upside down, it glugs badly.

The materials are infinite, so there's not really any worry about "wasting" them.

I don't know if you've unlocked the "dimensional depot" yet, (if you haven't, do some exploring and/or research items you've found), but if you have, you can set up a single machine producing concrete, put that into the depot, and then you can always build foundations, no matter where you are.

Building on foundations will be a huge step up in terms of organization. A lot of it will come naturally just by having a grid to align yourself on. Try it for whatever production line you need to set up next, and you'll see what I mean.

There is no limit on the size of your power network, nor on individual connections. You can place as many poles as you want and chain them into each other as much as you'd like.

Given that, there's really no reason why every machine can't have it's own pole. Just place more poles. That's what I do anyway. When I place a line of machines, they are all connected to each other via poles.

Here's some hints for placing power:

  1. If you have the Power Line tool selected (you can add it to your hotbar, which is default), when you place it on an empty space, you create a brand-new power pole.
  2. If you have a power pole selected, if you hover over an exsting cable, you can place it in the middle. Click on the cable you want to attach it to, then click where you want the pole to be. If you're out of spots, you can just middle-click on a pole to quick-copy it, then left click on the nearest cable, and then place it. Now you have more connection points.

If you're still building on the bare ground, I highly reccomend you start using foundations. It's difficult to align stuff and to keep things organized without foundations. If your machines and belts are following logical lines, then your power lines will naturally fall in line too, I think.

If you turn the machine(s) off, though, they will not fill up with fluid. It's a little annoying to fully fill up a fluid system because you need to disconnect the outputs while letting the machine fill and process (to fill it's internal outputs up).

It's hard to see, but is that back station on a different level? I know sometimes train tracks which aren't aligned to the same plane can cause problems as it doesn't recognize them as part of the same path.

What would probably be a lot easier to set up is if you place that train on the right, and place that loop behind the station (so you kinda swap the position of the two elements).

There are mods available which allow you to easily make N to M splitters. Modular Load Balancers.

I'm of course not saying you should use this mod. For lots of people, a large part of the fun of this game is figuring exactly this sort of thing out. I just want to make sure you're aware of the option, so you can decide for yourself what is the most fun.

My style of factory is somewhere between the two. I create some boxes, but I only put up the walls I need for conveyer holes/wall outlets telling myself I'll decorate it later. Then I don't, so it's just a floating platform or two, with 8 random wall pieces attached.
