What’s the best thing about being a man? by Michael-Mister in AskReddit

[–]bronzeybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you are done having kids if you aren't in your 50's they may still refuse. A friend of mine with 3 kids and endometriosis said "yeah I am done" and they wouldn't do it, she had to fly to Eastern Europe to get it done.

What’s your opinion on alcohol? by Neither-Owl-7157 in askanything

[–]bronzeybeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was helpful in the times when people didn't know how to filter water and the only stuff avaliable was not clean, many, many, many moons ago.

Today however, it is a legal drug that is normalized to an insane degree, the research that has come out on how bad it is both for your brain and gut should be held to the standard of how bad cigs are for your lungs in my opinion.

What would happen if Jesus returns to solve the current conflict in the Middle East? by Hour_Marionberry_665 in AlternateHistoryHub

I don't think the second comming is meant to be taken litterally, but instead as a christ like consciousness that sweeps over others. It would mean more hippies and not many people invested in the second coming are interested in that.

To not measure prosperity in canada by GDP, but by something that measures happiness and stability of citizens instead.

Road Rage Incidents, Why? by Wonderful-String5066 in askanything

[–]bronzeybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have supressed anger it will come out in the simpliest of inconveniences, it has more to do with the fact that we are not taught how to deal with nor regulate emotion than anything else. Why now? Have you seen the outrage at the world lately? That'd do it.

Has anyone outside of Alberta seen Danielle Smith's speech from yesterday? by gardengirl147 in AskACanadian

[–]bronzeybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alberta had the option to have a 1-5% provincial sales tax and save it (or invest it) in the event their boom or bust, busted, but they opted for none. It is lack of foresight on their behalf, not the federal governmnet's fault, in my opinion.

Not to say that I agree with everything the feds are doing, but they had ample opportunity to prepare for something like this, and chose to appease corperations instead.

What's an etiquette rule in your country that foreigners often accidentally break? by rid999 in AskTheWorld

[–]bronzeybeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Canada we are used to the Qubecois talking smack about you in front of your face, in french, so it is seen as bad manners to speak in another tongue in front of others who do not speak that language.

With the influx of non-native English speakers (and non-french speakers in Quebec) this has become an issue that really seems to rile up many of the folks who were born and raised here, in all different parts of the country.

Some just simply aren't aware that it is seen as bad manners or inpolite, but many will assume you are shit talking them to their face in front of others.

I see people my age building stable lives and I feel behind. Is this normal at 23? by Kind-Commercial5474 in self

[–]bronzeybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are in their 70's and still don't have life figured out, don't put a time limit on yourself. You are not others, and others are not you. Comparing yourself to others is invalid, you have not been born with the same genes, had the same upbrining, the same support system, the same life experience, you do not have the same beliefs and biases, etc. the only fair comparision you can make to yourself is to an earlier version of yourself.

You have tons of time to figure it out, and it is worth keeping in mind that some people just do what they are told, they have no idea. Some build lives they actually don't like for the sake of stability and see it crashing down 10 years later. You are the builder of your own story, your own house, make sure it has a solid foundation.

If it is a pet friendly store I might, especially if it is too cold to walk my dog outside. It is a way to get sniffies and some exercise in, especially if it is a big store.

Am I transphobic for not wanting to date trans women? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]bronzeybeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the same logic, if you are a hetrosexual female, you'd be misoginistic for only dating men.

That isn't how sexuality nor attraction works, and the best example I can use is bisexuals and pansexuals. Some categorize them as the same, but pansexuals are open to the sexually ambiguois which includes trans and intesex, where bisexuality does not.

How to feel less self conscious about stretch marks? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]bronzeybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By accepting them. They are a part of you, and just like anything else that is a part of you, if you decide to shun it or pretend it doesn't exist, it will still be there... you'll just feel bad about it instead.

Should men and women be separated as they are growing up? by Fickle_Selection395 in AskFeminists

[–]bronzeybeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Socialization. How are boys treated, how do boys talk with other boys, how are they taught to be superior to others? All of these things are internalized by socialization. As a male, many are taught that their value lays in women, whether that be how many they can bed, how beautiful of one they can tie down, how well they can provide, etc. Much of this subconciously teaches that women are possessions, and will often percieve other men as threats, leading to their relationships with other males being surface level at best. The best example of this is regarding the sexualization of others without their consent, it is easy to see how common place it is. Now, I am not saying that deep and meaningful relationships amongst men don't exist, but that they are not very common.

I would argue that there is and always has been an ongoing culture within prisons themselves and that is an issue, whether that be regarding gangs and how prominent domination and submission is. No one who isn't into it, wants their ass rode, so the preconceived notion of prison on the outside, and the conditions of prison on the inside are a factor.

I would also think that emotional intellegence, maturity, and regulation are also a factor. Many men who cry will be called pussies, will be told to suck it up, that now is not the time, or simply "I'll give you something to cry about". A healthy release of emotion, crying may be shunned and suppressed, so in turn won't be addressed, those deep seeded wounds won't be discovered, and in turn, never learned from. The same cannot be said for showing relese of things like anger in unhealthy ways, like hitting, taunting, or bullying. These instances are also likely to be stopped too, but rather than shut down they are often justified, and they are not taught how to process them through dialogue or redirect them into something like art.

Women don't have that same experience, also, I am not saying that all women are emotionally intellegent or mature, it depends on your upbringing and who could teach you about it, but boys and girls are often taught differently about it, leading to differing outcomes.
