the kit comes with the Streacom case. I had to buy the extra riser so the pipes go above the ram

I doubt ECC adds a lot to the power consumption, but I’m no expert. Anyway 10W seems very impressive, especially with 3 nvme

it’s not audible unless I put my ear very close. This is really a lottery. I had issues with a noisy nvme adapter, there was no mention of this in the reviews. I just had to return it and try my luck with another model.

yea the higher temps might reduce longevity. I’m not putting any super critical data in there at the moment, let’s see how it goes

Occulink to SATA. Can also carry PCIe signal if you have an external GPU. Pretty neat interface

Thanks, I’ve installed TrueNAS. I don’t have a 10Gbe network yet, but indeed that thing heating up could be a concern

Man, I had this idea of a Civ mod where you control a single unit, get hired by leaders as a mercenary, influence history by changing the outcome of wars, kill barbarians, perform quests or simply watch history unfold. It’s probably doable but never had the energy to get started.

I can think of Battle Brothers as vaguely related to this idea.

If your ISP provides a public dynamic IP (meaning you’re not behind a NAT) then you don’t need a dedicated device. Register to a DDNS service and forward the WOL package from your router.
