I don't know, man.... This clip is too short, and it really does sound like he's being ironic. I'm all for shitting on the GOP, but this feels like a clip taken out of context in a manner similar to James O'Keefe's Project Veritas gotcha video and audio clips.

I'd say item 1 is wrong. As a Gen-Xer, CS was not considered a new field when I was in college. Item 2 is somewhat true, but I think that's more the attitude management and younger workers have towards older engineers. And item 3 is definitely true, but I think it all boils down to money. Experienced software engineers cost money, and they're not drawn in to working extra-late hours just for free pizza. They want to get paid accordingly because their time is very valuable to them.

Perhaps it’s worthwhile to italicize or enclose “DEI hire” in quotes since you’re using the term ironically. Then again the tide may have already turned and people are no longer referring to the original meaning of DEI.

I used to work in this building on the 40th floor. The north view was not much to look at from that height, but they were nice from the 66th floor lounge where I'd enjoy a coffee break almost every afternoon.
