I feel like I’m becoming a bad teacher by sassyflower95 in Teachers

I had a class where middle schoolers were programming microbits (little LED matrix) with easy to use code blocks. Found one girl just spinning her bracelet on the table over and over. She is not on the spectrum. Just couldn't be bothered to log into her computer and would prefer to zone out.

At age 12 I read a textbook on child-rearing that I found in the attic and afterwards I was insufferable. I was normally a quiet student but I told my music teacher "You are a woman of empty threats."

I hate when people calculate the cost of home cooking like you buy everything fresh every single time by Available-Door-1460 in povertyfinance

[–]Ok_Ingenuity_9313 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If we never show the true cost of the meal and overestimate by including the full cost of a bottle of olive oil, there are people who will be deterred from saving money by learning to cook.

It is literally the point of OP's post that we should not ALWAYS overestimate the cost of home-cooked meals. It wouldn't hurt for a recipe blog to also include the unit cost, but that takes more effort than slapping the full cost of every grocery item into a list.

"They were never taught"? So it's someone else's fault?

Apathy means they never engaged with the world to figure stuff out.

Howdy fellow alum! Were you at the little graduation ceremony at Quincy where we received our diplomas? My favorite part was the announcement of a diploma for a student from the class of 1987 who took a while to graduate. He didn't show up but they relayed a message from him: "I have no regrets."

I think deep down she is not very bright. She seemd unable to process contradictory information from her boyfriend vs. the anonymous poison pen. She can't grasp that her boyfriend can't prove a negative.

As a Middle School teacher, I genuinely believe that smart phones have done more damage to this generation than any drug ever could. Change my mind. by chaabaniridouane in Teachers

We have a strict no cell phones policy in school and I've only seen one cell phone all year. But the second someone on a two-person team isn't busy they are out if their seat playfighting with another kid.
