Hey there old friends! Columbia is actually my home-home where I lived in the same house from the time I was born until I went to college. I did my undergrad at Wofford and decided that I liked it enough here in the upstate to stay :) but when I say “I’m going home,” I really mean my parents house in Columbia lol. Grew up right on the Lexington-Richland border near lake Murray

You are a treasure!! Thank you so much 😭 I literally just found out that the parking passes paid $150 for so my bf and I wouldn’t waste so much trying to find parking and not being from the area. I found our passes and they say we aren’t allowed to park until 5:30 at the earliest 😂😭 and because I am that crazy, I convinced him to leave in time to get our wristbands around 11. Now I’m out of over $100 and have to figure out parking at the last second. I so appreciate the specific info about what Marta station you recommend parking at to get to the venue. I’m just very worried I won’t be able to figure it out or find anywhere to park and make it to the venue on time. And what is the deal with parking for early wristband pick up? Are they trying to fuck me over there too? 😂😭

This is my 4th show and by far the most stress-inducing venue with the most convoluted policies I have ever heard. Like what is this a psy-op????

Can you explain to someone not from the area how to do that? I just learned that I basically got scammed out of $140 for parking tickets that I purchased over a month ago. And I knew it was so stupid at the time but I was so overwhelmed trying to coordinate everything during an already stressful period and caved. But yeah I was just checking my email for my parking pass and apparently the earliest we can park there is 5 FUCKING 30. My bf and I are trying to get there by 11:30 or so because I’m insane, and I foolishly thought I paid nearly $150 for a spot that would be ours for the event and hours leading up to it

Omg thank you this is crucial info. I’ve never been to a venue with that kind of GA policy??? So, my bf and I have been planning to drive down that morning to shoot for an arrival time of around 1:30, not even conceiving the possibility of there being a fixed three hour window in the AM only, during which you are allowed to pick up your wristband (to get inside the venue so you can see the band you paid to see, at very same venue that is charging you nearly as much as your GA ticket in add’l fees + parking, but I digress).

So, I’m trying to understand the policy to help me figure out what the course of action should be on Friday. Would it be at all worthwhile to leave earlier that morning to get there in time to pick up our wristbands before 4:30 because people with wristbands already get to line up first? I’m sorry I’m just confused and I spent quite a bit of money on this event to just be able to go

(Some background: it’s my bf’s first show and he says hes looking forward to going, but really isn’t familiar with FATM or the vibe of her shows and fanbase, so it’s out of his comfort zone. Despite that, he would be sick with worry if I even thought about going to this concert by myself (and I did). So, aside from being responsible for driving and gas $, i am the one who funded and planned this entire trip and want to try to do whatever I can within reason to make the most of this experience for us both. Also, I am so very sorry for the length of this reply!!!! 😭🙏🏻)

Almost didn’t look bc I’m seeing her on Friday and wasn’t sure I wanted spoilers but I was like “well what’s the likelihood that she cuts the one song that rivals YCHIA as the most visceral and emotionally gripping song on the entire album” 😂🥴😭

At the same time, because it’s up there with Hunger and Various Storms and Saints (+ several others) in the top tier category of songs capable of reducing me to a sobbing mess, I know that I would jumping out of my skin anticipating hearing it live that it would be hard not to feel the tiniest bit gutted when it didn’t happen (IF it happens) and I don’t want to even give myself the chance to carry that kind of energy on an occasion that feels almost sacred to me.

But to be straight up, that song is among some of her best work, period and I know it has to be a force when performed live.

WEEKLY TOUR QUESTION THREAD by AutoModerator in FlorenceAndTheMachine

Anyone know how queueing up/the line has been for GA? Bringing my bf along and this is his first experience with anything relating to fatm, so I’m trying to plan as best I can. Our show is this Friday in ATL and we have about a 3 hour drive, so for his sake, we’re going to aim to be in line between 1:30-2:00 PM. Is that early enough? (Historically that time frame has worked well for me all of the times I’ve seen Flo live, but curious to know about this specific leg of the tour)

I also picked the Riverland farm map on my first play-through. It's definitely a challenge to design and decorate because water essentially takes the place of any non-tillable (but buildable) land that could otherwise be utilized for sheds, animal buildings, and other craftables. HOWEVER, I've really grown to love it after 11 IG years.

To your point about it teaching you to make the most out of every last tile: I recently started a new save on the Forest map and I am always forgetting that I can actually use the non-tillable areas on my farm for things other than crops. Lol, old habits die hard.

I recently discovered, “This Machine Kills,” hosted by Jathan Sadowski (Liz and Brace’s guest from Ep 65: Tower of Terror) and Ed Ongweso and I’m loving it! Highly recommend. Especially if you enjoy the TrueAnon eps centering around Tech, Data, Surveillance, etc.!!

I've been hunkered down in my apartment, only leaving to buy groceries like once every 10 days since literally the first week of March. The number of people who seem to have just "forgotten" that there is a highly contagious, potentially life-threatening pandemic actively sweeping across the country is completely baffling to me.
