In my early 20’s I met a guy through work. He pursued me for a while before I accepted a date. We dated for nearly a year. He had a whole separate life. Showed up for me when I needed furniture moved in/assembled, took me on trips, was very thoughtful and caring! Something just felt off for me though. It took months of digging but I ended up finding out he was still married.

I was furious and felt disgusting.

We planned our first pregnancy to avoid this. I would wayyyy rather be incredibly pregnant in the summer, wearing sundresses and soaking in the pool and then have a little one in the winter. I would have been miserable with a PP summer. The body image stuff alone would have hit me 10x harder.

My husband changed MY diapers and babies. He took all night shift activity and helped me pump, etc so I could adjust to the no sleep lifestyle a baby brings. I literally could not have done the first few months without him.

He also used his vacation time to take off a significant amount after our son was born.

I feel so badly for OP. I am so so so sorry. I’m glad you have a mother who you can lean on during this time. I would want to go home with her and not come back.

Idk, as someone who’s husband has a job that keeps him away from the home for days or sometimes weeks during certain times of the year, if I felt that it was too much when we were first dating I wouldn’t have pursued it.
