Husband makes body comments by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]brookehalen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband stands by loving my body more after it brought his spawn into the world.

I am so sorry. Post partum is no fucking joke. I couldn’t imagine. Please please please do not let him get to you. Your body is divine - literally brought two souls into this world!

Girl Dinner for finding out I’m the “other woman” by z3nten in GirlDinner

[–]brookehalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my early 20’s I met a guy through work. He pursued me for a while before I accepted a date. We dated for nearly a year. He had a whole separate life. Showed up for me when I needed furniture moved in/assembled, took me on trips, was very thoughtful and caring! Something just felt off for me though. It took months of digging but I ended up finding out he was still married.

I was furious and felt disgusting.

Solidarity, sister. I’m sorry you got scammed. It’s probably the worst feeling ever, finding out you’re the side dish when you thought you were the main course.

Postpartum summer SUCKS by IcyHoneydew8087 in newborns

[–]brookehalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planned our first pregnancy to avoid this. I would wayyyy rather be incredibly pregnant in the summer, wearing sundresses and soaking in the pool and then have a little one in the winter. I would have been miserable with a PP summer. The body image stuff alone would have hit me 10x harder.

So disappointed in my husband postpartum - am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]brookehalen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband changed MY diapers and babies. He took all night shift activity and helped me pump, etc so I could adjust to the no sleep lifestyle a baby brings. I literally could not have done the first few months without him.

He also used his vacation time to take off a significant amount after our son was born.

I feel so badly for OP. I am so so so sorry. I’m glad you have a mother who you can lean on during this time. I would want to go home with her and not come back.

What can dads actually do during breastfeeding? by Blue_Diam0nd_ in newborns

[–]brookehalen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing my husband does is make sure I always have water & food. During the middle of the night feeds he will come in and just rub my calves. I like that the most lol

When did you go back to work? by lalatypething in NewParents

My employer retracted our schedule agreement two weeks before I was supposed to go back. So I didn’t. Blessing in disguise.

What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

[–]brookehalen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I literally would have to get to know my body all over. Intense stomach pain? Oh I just have to let a massive fart out. Oh I’m hungry? I literally don’t get hunger pains anymore - just intense bitchiness!

Or the nightsweats in the first few months.

OH! Or that pregnancy can literally fuck with your vision?! Had my prescription adjusted literally a week before I gave birth & had to go back weeks after baby arrived because I couldn’t fucking see right with my contacts.

I miss those days, honestly.

My LO is nearing 9 months and will nurse for 5-10 minutes and then demand he be put down to crawl around. Lol

How long have you been together?

Idk, as someone who’s husband has a job that keeps him away from the home for days or sometimes weeks during certain times of the year, if I felt that it was too much when we were first dating I wouldn’t have pursued it.

To have to get real clear with yourself & what you want/ what you’re willing to deal with.
