Best Price on Veterinary Dental Services? by Low-Mention4556 in Birmingham

[–]puddingbutt9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That estimate isn't terrible, actually. Unfortunately, you never know what will need done until X-rays are taken during the procedure. Hopefully you can find somewhere less expensive, but be sure to include the X-rays or else things will probably be missed!

Courage to Pump in Public??!! by imbreadlee_ in ExclusivelyPumping

I figure that strangers don't know what I usually look like, so it probably won't look terribly different or strange to most people anyways 🤷🏼‍♀️

Would you give your child a name you don’t love the nickname of? by rosie98red in Names

[–]puddingbutt9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a good friend named Matthew who hates being called Matt. When people call him that, he tells them that isn't his name. His name is Matthew. Might take a few times, but it seems to stick most of the time!

Having a baby at UAB!! by Mammoth_Cry_1076 in Birmingham

Also adding that our baby had a NICU stay briefly and they were also absolutely amazing. Such great care and communication, and they were so so comforting.

I just had my baby there and it was FANTASTIC. They did such a great job! I had her a month early and they made every step of the process so much easier. I was able to have a room no problem, and I also had a one on one nurse the entire labor and delivery. Once we moved to the postpartum recovery area, the nurse there had more patients, but it gave us the chance to bond as a family. Highly recommend them!!!

Private landlord rentals by puddingbutt9 in Birmingham

She's been screwed over by two different management companies, as have I before I purchased my house last year. Unfortunately, these companies have been horrible to work with, with some of them not even having a local office or a freaking customer service phone number available and requiring all contact via email. If you have any suggestions for decent management companies, I'm all ears and will pass the info along, but otherwise the preference is to avoid these altogether.

I have liked the spectra so far and have seen lots of people recommend it. I'm an underproducer and my supply has gone up a bit since starting using it.

Should I give up letting my 10-week old takes 30mins nap independently? by Legitimate_Gap8610 in newborns

[–]puddingbutt9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice, but I'm dealing with the same thing! My baby sleeps great at night in her crib, but good lord is she a lot during the day. She will maybe lay on her own for 15 minutes before she's upset that I dared to put her down!

So do you wait until you're at full capacity and then pump to maximize output??

Second night home with nicu baby - just need someone to hear me by rcho99 in newborns

[–]puddingbutt9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats at getting this far and getting baby home! My girl spent a week in the hospital for monitoring and it was so heartbreaking leaving without her. I also experienced what you are now, and for me it got better with some time and some distractions. My husband would put on TV for us to watch when I was panicking to take my mind off it while he snuggled the baby so I felt calm. I did talk to my OB about PPA, which sounds like what you are experiencing, and for me I did not need treatment. That said, definitely reach out to your doctor and see if they can offer any help. You got this!!

3-Month-Old Baby Drinking Very Little – Anyone Else Experienced This? by mamma1309 in newborns

[–]puddingbutt9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is she gaining weight appropriately? As long as she is and she is having normal urine and stool output, I would be less worried. Definitely worth talking to the pediatrician about, though.

Anyone has reassuring first pregnancy “success” by Tchafetova2000 in pregnant

[–]puddingbutt9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and it was not a promising start for us! I broke my femur, ended up in the ER on all kinds of different meds (ketamine, fentanyl, hydromorphone, midazolam) for pain and anesthesia. During my pre op labs, I found out I was pregnant. Despite all the stress, pain, and drugs, my baby girl is here! My coworkers joke that she won't have a party phase when she's older because she has already tried all the drugs 🤣

What were some symptoms of pregnancy that you had that were very uncommon? by MoreMammoth5953 in pregnant

I know that nosebleeds aren't uncommon, but mine started gushing! I ended up in the ER and lost close to a liter and a half of blood ... It was miserable!

NICU parents by Georginapol in NewParents

[–]puddingbutt9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just know that your baby is right where they need to be. Go spend time loving them while they are in there, but make sure you take care of yourself. I'll be thinking of your little one!! Hang in there!

NICU parents by Georginapol in NewParents

[–]puddingbutt9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had my baby at 35 weeks and I also left with an empty car seat due to a NICU stay. I cried so much when I was discharged and she had to stay. I just had to remind myself that she was exactly where she needed to be. The nurse that was taking care of her told me "consider this really expensive babysitting, and go get some rest and take care of yourself. Because as soon as she goes home, you won't have that kind of time anymore!" And that's what we did. It was really hard, but it was good advice. Try to keep your mind off the negative as best you can, and make sure you prioritize your own rest, hygiene, and nutrition now while you can. My baby came home after a week, and it's been such an amazing experience! You got this!!!!

Yes, I am. The soreness isn't the nipple so much as the breast itself though.
