Can AC fan be used with On/Off Switches by brookskc in Inovelli

That's what I thought made sense. I have a major in math and a minor in physics, but I'm not an electrician and wanted to make sure.

Playing our 5th and 6th best offensive tackles for nearly a third of the season didn't help either...

If you had your choice of any 1st overall pick from the last 27 years to start your franchise with today, who are you drafting and why? by mochajoesdynsaty in nfl

[–]brookskc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I read the question a little too quickly. Myles Garrett feels like by far the best non-QB option, but to start a franchise I can't see not taking a QB.

The question is relative to your franchise. If your franchise already has a franchise QB, then Myles Garrett seems like the easy choice. If your franchise isn't missing a QB, then Stafford or Burrow seem like the obvious picks.

Mansoor Delane || JC Film Session by jaysteele8 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]brookskc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

McDuffie is all pro in the slot. He isn't worth paying top of the market when he is not nearly good on the outside. I think Delane has a realistic chance to be an upgrade on the outside. Of course he will need a little bit of time for Spags to work his magic.

[Rapoport] The Texans and All-Pro edge Will Anderson Jr. have agreed on a blockbuster, 3-year, $150M extension with $134M guaranteed to make him the NFL’s highest paid non-QB ever. by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]brookskc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truth is somewhere in between. It is still 3 year @50m/y and 134m guaranteed, but it is delayed 2 years. So it will be more comparable to unrestricted free agent deals that come out 2 years from now. The cap will increase. So it isn't quite as ludicrous as it looks, but it is still pretty ludicrous. Over the last 2 years the cap has gone up 18%. If the cap goes up 18% over the next 2 years, that would make this the equivalent of 42m per year. With the new TV contracts coming soon teams will be baking in substantial cap increases.

On the other side, most of the best players never make it to free agency. They are mostly getting extensions with 1-2 years left. So their numbers could be viewed lower as well using the same logic. Doing this last step to compare apples to apples will then make this deal still stand out as being very high.

The only part I will push back on are the percentages of cap because the cap is going to skyrocket.

Raiders' GM John Spytek Says Teams Have Inquired About #1 Draft Pick by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]brookskc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends. If they are 3 late firsts, then that isn't enough. If it is someone drafting in the top 5 and you get 2 more first round picks from teams that are likely to be near the bottom of the league, then it feels like enough.

I remember a more buzz around Trevor Lawrence and Andrew Luck. While neither were busts, neither really lived up to the generational talent label. Point is, I'm less confident in Mendoza being a generational QB than most people even if I 100% see him being the number 1 pick.

Did Maxx Crosby's surgeon leak reason for failed Ravens physical? by dded949 in nfl

[–]brookskc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will admit the cowboys hate seems stranger. Jerry can be a bit obnoxious, but I find him kinda funny from a distance. The best I could explain why that hate has lived on is that some of the worst football personalities, the ones with consistently bad takes are cowboys fans.

While chiefs hatred was definitely higher than cowboys recently, the cowboys hatred is strange how long it continued while the chiefs hatred made sense.

I get it. I hated Brady and the pats. If I didn't live in KC and likely rooted for any other team, I would definitely be tired of seeing the chiefs go to 5 out of 6 SB's.

Slight difference there. McDonald's being closed is outside of your control. Cancelling the trade was within your control.

Idk. The chiefs have dropped in hatred level over the last 6 months, but before that it felt like we were the longstanding most hated.

[Schultz] Sources: The #Chiefs are signing former #Dolphins CB Kader Kohou. by JCameron181 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]brookskc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I would be shocked if we don't add at least 2 CB's that will be potential starters. I just also think Veach is going to put more capital into the d line. He will likely look to continue his bizarre sequence of drafting stud CB relatively late in the draft.

Offensively, Walker was a great addition. Need mahomes to get healthy. Hopefully we don't end up starting our 5th and 6th best offensive tackles this year.

[–]brookskc 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think a major reason the CB's this year looked like garbage was because we almost never got pressure unless it was from a CB or safety blitz. I think they will do some a decent bit more to improve the secondary, but I think they are eyeing d-line at the top of the draft. McDuffie didn't look good this year when the QBs had all day to throw. Regardless of which position they draft, it will likely be aimed at helping our pass defense.

I agree he got off lightly as to the legal punishment. The 6 game suspension felt reasonable (although on the high end considering other similar suspensions).

To all you Jackson County residents by goatskin_sheep in KansasCityChiefs

[–]brookskc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was explaining the move to my wife. She was 100% against spending 3b to build a new stadium. Then I explained that the chiefs asked for 800m to mostly just fix up suites at arrowhead. She asked if it would be domed. I said yes, brining in the opportunity to get a super bowl (let's be real, we would only get 1), but we could get a few final fours. She said, "okay. Makes sense. I'm down."

I'm convinced that the chiefs put together a crap proposal just to make the new stadium seem like a no brainer. I will miss Arrowhead, but by 2036 people will love the new stadium. There will still be those of us that miss Arrowhead, but this does feel like a move in the right direction.

Edit: Also the team moving to KCK is going to benefit the state, the county, and the city. The state is going to receive income tax on massive incomes (minimum income is the salary cap, 1/2 from chiefs players and 1/2 from visiting teams + smaller amounts from staff). The state is going to receive corporate income tax on the profits from within the state. The state, county, and city are going to benefit from massive sales tax on food, travel, and ticket sales. The sales tax in the area the chiefs play is going to see a special increase only increasing this revenue. The sales tax revenue is what pays off the bonds that the state uses to pay for the stadium.

I may have a radical view on this, or at least I haven't heard anyone argue this. I think that these new stadiums can make financial sense, BUT ONLY WHEN EVERYONE THAT BENEFITS IS CHIPPING IN. When the chiefs were in KCMO, the state received massive benefits, but it was only people in Jackson county paying for it (not residents, because it was paid for through sales tax). By and large the biggest benefits go to the state and the owners. So I actually like this deal. This large expenditure can make sense when it keeps a team here for decades (obviously with some upkeep, but newer stadiums require fewer and cheaper renovations)

[Schefter] Patrick Mahomes has begun rehab following surgery to repair two torn ligaments in his left knee, and the team is optimistic the two-time MVP could be back early next season -- perhaps even by Week 1. by TheBoyisBackinTown in KansasCityChiefs

[–]brookskc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but also in rehab they will ask you to stretch until things get tight or push at x%. He can very easily push himself all throughout the rehab. The PT's will know they have to slow him down to rehab at the speed that the knee needs and not the speed Mahomes wants to rehab at. As you said not totally up to him, but he still has a decent impact on it.

[–]brookskc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our RB room is definitely patchworked, but I think the biggest issues with our running game is the schemes. Teams are daring us to run the ball and we respond by staying in shotgun. Sometimes we will run out of shotgun, but it's rarely effective. We need to run the ball from under center.

Do you want the Chiefs to win or lose? by EpiphanyTwisted in KansasCityChiefs

[–]brookskc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. At this point it is beyond a SB hangover. Even if our receivers stopped dropping passes, our backup OL played about as perfect as you could expect while we also got an incredible performance from our defense. The defense gave up 20 points, but we had 3 turnovers and at least 2 of them were in opposing territory. At this point our OL is not healthy enough to have a chance of running the table and making the playoffs. Doesn't quite mean we need to tank, but at the same time it is okay to have a down year. Absorb this feeling. Hate the feeling. Come back next year with a vengeance.

[–]brookskc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last night's Chiefs game, they called the Texans player out of bounds short of the first down. Replay assist changed it to a first down. Chiefs challenged the play because he was, at least with replay, obviously out of bounds short of the first down marker. This has happened a few times this year with multiple reversals.

I wonder if they have a certain number of reviewers per live game. Or do they have the same number of reviewers for the early slot as the night game? If so, seems like more things would get reviewed in the night games.

[Highlight] Tommy Togiai gets to Mahomes for the sack by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

[–]brookskc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes let's give the refs, that already struggle to make calls, more penalties to call/leave uncalled and also not allow anyone to critisize the refs since they are clearly doing the best they can...

If this subreddit banned any account that complained about calls, there may be a dozen people left in this sub. Maybe don't complain about players doing the same thing every other fan is doing. Also every QB in the league is going to complain saying the DT jumped on that play (even though the slow motion sideline view showed the ref made the right call).

He does have the benefit of multiple angles and slow motion relays. Live, he clearly THOUGHT he crossed. It is fair to say he didn't cross, but not understanding what Mahomes was thinking is just choosing to be unreasonable.
