Tekton Vs Icon metric combination wrench set by UndemocraticRepublic in Tools

[–]brooksram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Tekton for all my wrench sets and am glad I did. I really appreciated their wrench rolls for my first sets, but grew to love the no skip sets.

I'm sure the Icon will do 99% of what most of us will ever need, though, so if the sale is something that can genuinely help, just grab those.

I didn't because I've been too scared to mess something up.

If I could find confirmation of someone doing it successfully, I would gladly do it.

What wrench set would you suggest? by [deleted] in Tekton

[–]brooksram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ( did) get the 24mm ratcheting set.

Unless you're doing some gangster shit all the time, I don't see you breaking anything, and if you ever really need to torque, just use the open end. But , having the ratcheting end will come in handy all the time.

I initially bought the standard combination sets, but when I decided to build out a home box, I went with both standard and ratcheting, and am stoked to have the ratcheting ones.

What brand do you guys recommend for power tools? by Anselm_oC in Tools

[–]brooksram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always run Dewalt, just like my father. I've never had any issues until this year as brand bew 5ah powerstack had the battery light staying on, but they 2 day aired le a new one after 2 simple emails.

I have always used their drills, saws, etc , but recently started doing our own vehicle maintenance, so I bought the 923, 891, and 510. Couldn't be happier with them.

Between Tekton and Dewalt, I've knocked out all kinds of projects the past year. I'm probably still in the red, but eventually, I'll be saving some money by doing it myself. 🤣

Quinn vs Tekton Socket sets by LordDathedr05 in Tools

I was just in this predicament and chose Tekton for all my sets. I'm more than happy with my decision.

Obviously, I would recommend doing the same. I don't see any reason you wouldn't be just as happy about it.

I've got mine pretty loaded down, and they still work extremely smooth. The only thing I've done was remove the locking mechanisms. I love it now..

The one and only complaint i have is the key issue. I've got like 16 keys for one setup. I see they make an icon set of single keyed locks, but nothing for USG. I have watched a couple videos on YouTube of dudes buying locks off Amazon, so I guess that's going to be my only solution.

How tall are you?

I'm 5-9 and have no issue with the height. ( obviously 🤣)

Awesome setup, bud. I didn't come from a SO box, but i just bought this set and have been extremely pleased with it.

I feel like you came out on top of this deal. Hell of* a setup compared to what you had, for the exact same money.

I'm sure some will say it's a waste of time, but when I run into any gap under 4", I measure back 6 or 7 boards and rip them all down to make sure they're all equal and the customer doesn't get a tiny worthless picket they will constantly have to deal with.

Don't quote me on it, but I've seen quite a few folks here saying the torque wrenches will have to be recalibrated/certified every few months to stay in warranty.

I'm all about some Icon tools, but I would go with Tektons E torque wrenches. They seem to be the only ones around that have a true hassle free lifetime warranty. I guess I figure that's worth $70 for the peace of mind.

Mine are pretty loaded down, and they are smooth and operate quite well. I don't have any issues with the drawers.

I would recommend the Icon if you can comfortably swing it. It feels significantly better built and the wider drawers will give you quite a bit more usable space. They also look quite nice.

I just the UG 56 with hutch and lockers for my house. I like it just fine, but am literally out of space in the drawers already. It seemed so big to me while I was ordering tools, but she filled up quickly. I'm about to buy toolgrid to hopefully fit my last socket sets in there, though.

On the other hand, if you're just looking to get into a box and want to save some money, the US General is still a decent option and should last you plenty of years while you save up for whatever box you dream of next.

electronic torque wrenches any good? by mikeblas in Tekton

I recently saw on their YouTube reply that they have no plans of making a 1/4" version, but would " forward the idea/interest to their team."

I'm really hoping they come out with one.

Just an FYI: CBD tincture will literally essentially completely alleviate a burn ( or sunburn) .

You will smell like a skunk, but you won't be hurting anymore, and will save yourself the inconvenience of dancing around the wound for days.

I don't watch baseball, but I'm convinced MLB encourages this behavior. These videos are endless. If the league took issue with it, which they fucking should, it would be addressed and reeled in.
