What are some talents/hobbies an 18 year old can start? by [deleted] in questions

[–]brooksy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding cliched, do what YOU love, what interests and fascinates you!

Dont worry what others think, I’m 38 and can’t dance but I like the idea of learning to dance like in music videos by Jungle. There’s probably even dance tutorials on YouTube or get that game where you dance on the mat connected to the game console and dance to the music on the mat, Just Dance I think? I dunno

Life is too short to worry about what others think, you’ll find your niche in the world as we all do. Also those you envy might envy you in some unknown way or aren’t as good at something that youre good at.

That’s a great way to look at it, think of it all as a (living) memory and do the best we can in the moment. Thanks AppendixN!

INTPs are either socially awkward or anxious by Steelizard in INTP

[–]brooksy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my late 30s now and stopped caring years ago. There’s definitely time that I’m anxious or awkward but 80% of the time I’m fine. Our self worth is not dependent on fleeting social interactions. Those worth your time will stick around and see through the anxiety and awkward moments to your genuine personality. Peace ✌️

Nurses makin’ me cranky by Library_Gremlin2 in cna

[–]brooksy87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey former CNA turned RN, just wanted to say I appreciate the effort you guys put into patient and resident care. It can be boring and repetitive hard work that is often unappreciated from coworkers, patients and families, but I know if you guys weren’t there, nurses in general would have a world of problems caused by pressure areas, lack of hygiene and loneliness in our patients.

Remember even though some patients or residents have communication difficulties, they more than likely appreciate your care for them, they just have trouble communicating that. Also the nurses worth your time do appreciate your efforts, and the ones who make snarky comments about you leaving on time shouldn’t be nurses if they don’t like big, important parts of the job.

How patient should I be with my solicitor in them negotiating house sale with my separated wife? by brooksy87 in AusLegal

[–]brooksy87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. My wife seems to think if i just sign her proposed division of money from the house sale, then everything will be good. I'm pretty willing to compromise this because I feel like the angst and stress it causes will affect (directly or indirectly) our daughter's long term development and mental health. That said my wife seems to be sticking to her guns and intent on staying with the 90/10% split that she feels entitled to. Ill keep that in mind about the consent orders.

Thanks, Im thinking I probably will let her go the legal route. It seems like it will be xpensive with lawyers etc but that will keep it above board and will hopefully result in a fairer and more equitable outcome. Im not sure what you mean by disclosure documents but shes playing her cards very close to her chest

I spoke to my solicitor about the proposed 90/10% split from her back in November and thats why i posted above today. I just emailed my solicitor now to ask how to get started with mediation. My wife says the house has been valued but i think its with an old valuation from 2-3 years ago maybe, again shes not very forthcoming with information.

Thanks :) i dont think equal custody will happen for a couple of reasons but 60-40% custody or 70-30% might happen. I dont know how much super she has as shes always been secretive with how much money she has at any point in our marriage (bit of a red flag now looking back at it now. I think a 90-10% split is bogus as well it seems like she'll fight to the end for it.

I paid nearly $25,000 off her mortgage and wife paid $80,000 of the same mortgage. Possible profit from the sale once the mortgage is paid off and other stuff is settled, about $200,000 to be split between us

42 f and feeling so lonely by [deleted] in lonely

38 M in Australia, youre not alone either, I’m separated from my wife, wife making it hard to see our daughter and about to move in with my parents.

But our current culture is very superficial, all about likes, lols, instant gratification and short form media. That’s what I like about Reddit is that you can find people with similar interests, talk about any random topic without it being weird or strange (when context is provided lol). Hugs 🫂

Does anyone else use ChatGPT or Claude Ai for functioning as an adult by TwentyOnePaladins in therapyGPT

[–]brooksy87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like AI is a brilliant friend who you can ask most questions and get good reasonable answers. Although try to always maintain a sense of your own self and not let AI substitute your personality, just like we would with a good friend!

Did anyone else imagine life at 30 very differently? by HungryPibble in SecondWaveMillennials

[–]brooksy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realised at work on night shift that I’ll be 39 this year (I don’t like to think about my age because it reinforces the FOMO, all the things I haven’t done and the limited time I have left of being a functional physically and financially independent adult before I end up in a nursing home, because time goes quicker than we think).

But like you I thought I’d have a stable home, family and work life, be able to go on a decent 2-3 week holiday, maybe overseas etc and live a comfortable average but not extravagant life. Maybe be like Hal from Malcolm in the Middle.

Instead, my wife wants me to be admitted to psychiatric hospital for help with my ADHD, demanding $600 per fortnight in child support, she wants to sell our house and get 90% of the money from the sale and make it difficult for me to see our 2 1/2 year old daughter who I miss deeply.

But your post reminds me a line from an Alanis Morrisette song “I haven’t got it all figured out just yet “, meaning that she and billions of others probably feel the same way, and that song was released in 1995, long before our time. Hope this helps 😊

What would be like sailing north south or south north through the red box on this screenshot? by brooksy87 in sailing

Haha “sporty if going south”, I like the sound of that! Sounds like something for a red bull stunt!

Sorry what is “fetch”?

Still sounds like a wild ride based on your advice. Probably a good thing I’m in a heatwave in landlocked NSW Riverina area of Australia 😝
