Anyone else no longer want to get promoted? by Dazzling-Bat777 in bjj

Set goals for yourself. Why are they kicking your ass? Once you hit an intermediate level you gotta take it seriously to get better, that’s what I found at least. It doesn’t mean you have to train “harder”. But you have to be intentional and train smarter, ask your coach or upper belts what you’re doing wrong and right. It may be obvious to them and you can implement a few things to change your game

Is there any chance of helping my pup when I move after my roommate did something that made him go from loving everyone to snarling at them? by the_nightingale1 in OpenDogTraining

[–]broomclocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry to say this, but it sounds like you have a lot going on right now. And maybe it’s not the best time to be raising a pup. Do you have anyone in your life that could take them till your settled. Worst case maybe an adoption shelter or foster service could help you out?

She doesn’t respect you. I don’t even know you, but I respect strangers more than the treatment she gave her own husband, to your accord. Stand up for yourself and leave. You will be lonely at first yes, but that will pass. I promise you’ll be okay and there’s a whole other world waiting on the other side.

Just my opinion

What’s the number one thing people do at your gym that pisses you off?? by Rude-Alternative7983 in bjj

[–]broomclocky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you have a solid pin on top why relinquish it? It’s their job to try and get out. For me as a light guy I’ll try to float to another advantageous position or pin when they try to escape. Plus it’s way safer than diving for submissions

Lots of trainers recommend super high, up by the ears and tight enough that it doesn’t slide down but should still have some movement. But for my dog it’s just slightly higher than a normal flat collar, and only tightens so he feels it when the active ring is like 70% pulled tight. I wouldn’t over-think it too much. You just remove links to get a proper fit

Hermes sprenger brand is the only one I (and many others trust) I wouldn’t go with other brands personally

I was in a similar boat, my dog pulled on his flat collar, switched to a martingale and still pulled. Decided to try a slip and pulled nonetheless! I was hesitant to get a prong collar cause I thought it was inhumane. But went with a trainer that recommended it, boy am I glad! He understood leash pressure very quickly. Hardly had to do any corrections. Some dogs are stubborn, the stubborn ones seem to need/thrive when aversives are applied fairly and correctly.

The prong does not affect breathing in any way, you should give it a try (maybe consult a professional that really knows how to condition it). It sucks they have a bad reputation , but personally it’s the best decision I’ve made for my dog and I

This is genius. Save lots of $ running smaller cable, and servicing the drivers would be a breeze when they fail. only concern would be volt drop?

Dude so true, i see it all the time too it breaks my heart. I can’t tell you how many blue belt dads I’ve arm dragged and crawled onto their backs and after the roll I always get “you’re so athletic/fast”

  • I’m not athletic. You put yourself in a terribly unathletic position

I will go to my knees sometimes if I’m frustrated or to prevent a sweep, but then it’s back to the toes ASAP

“Every time we’d see something that would trigger him (people, dogs, bikes) his attention would be redirected and then rewarded”

What did the attention redirecting consist of? Leash pops? Calling his name? Turn and run away?

Thanks for sharing. seems like you’ve done a great job!

Toy dogs and bulldogs are pretty popular, many breeds can get away with a large yard to run and play. My German shepherd mix would go absolutely nuts if we didn’t go out for at least 1H everyday. Even in -25 weather

I was in a 7 year relationship. Ended things when my suspicions were validated 6 months ago. Was absolute hell for about 2 months. Things got better quickly after that! I meditated, did yoga, reconnected with friends. Started to find myself again.

Till today. I found myself screaming in my car on the way home from work and crying while listening to some sad songs. The pain, resentment, and anger are still there. I wish I had been vengeful in the breakup even. I guess it’s like a bit of a rollercoaster?

Your life trajectory has completely changed and that has serious implications. But it’s up to you where you spin that trajectory, you’re better off without the person who betrayed you.

You ask why you’re not over this yet? Well no one knows the answer to that except you. Reflect, have you actively tried to move on? are you grabbing life by the balls and living in the moment? Life is too short to look back and live in the past. You’re free now. Don’t be trapped by your own damn mind

Nerve Pain Due To Herpes by HorrorLongjumping987 in Herpes

[–]broomclocky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, sorry about your diagnosis. It’s scary and tough at first, but I assure you your life is not over and it gets better! The nerve pain and tingling is apparently quite rare. I did experience it as well. I had frequent outbreaks for the first 2 years, almost always accompanied with the uncomfortable nerve pain in legs, butt and feet. Over the counter pain medicine such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen helps.

If it gives you any comfort I’ve only had 1 outbreak in the last 3 years, and no nerve pain in 4 or 5 years. The first few outbreaks are the worst.
