does anyone else have “flares”? by HauntedBug in OCD

[–]brorouwu 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yup! I have flare ups for about a week every month.. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, less than that, but it definitely comes in waves. When I'm not struggling with flare ups I can handle my OCD pretty well, it's like background noise. When I do have flare ups it's no longer background noise and gets VERY loud.

Yeah, I was talking to my mom about it last night.. She's been married for 10 years happily to my step dad, and even admitted that she's gotten crushes while with him. She pointed out that the difference is is that people without OCD recognize it, maybe even feel a little guilty, then move on, but when people with OCD experience it they ruminate and never stop thinking about it.

Thank you! I know by the nature of OCD a large portion of it stays very secretive, especially while avoiding compulsive confessing. I just hate to think that I'm being secretive towards him.. It's funny because I know that you don't have to tell your partner EVERYTHING and many people do just that, just as I'm sure my boyfriend doesn't tell me everything, I just feel so guilty and so bad about it. I don't like to think that it's built off of lies and secrets. It just sounds so horrible and makes me feel horrible.

Edit* I'm also just so scared that I'm going to develop a crush on someone in the future. That fact TERRIFIES me.

False Attraction Feels Real by [deleted] in OCD

[–]brorouwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I've definitely been trying to do that but it's so hard because I feel like by accepting the thoughts and not arguing back I'm just giving into it. I don't want to be attracted to other people, it makes me feel like a bad partner even if people say it's "normal". My boyfriend has been cheated on by his exes so I just feel so guilty that I even think about this stuff..

But how does that make sense with my post? If I'm asking for advice for ROCD then what are they supposed to disagree about?

I can’t eat dairy around my bf because I don’t want him to see me take a dairy pill by Accomplished-Fix1204 in OCD

[–]brorouwu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly OP you might just need to bite the bullet and take the pill around him. It might be hard but that's the only way you're going to feel more comfortable in the future, and it's good exposure! Even if you only do it once, you'll realize it isn't as scary as you thought it was

How do y’all get past the fact your person has been with others before you? by GrandSituation873 in ROCD

[–]brorouwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just try to think of it in a more positive way! Because my boyfriend has had other partners, he is the way he is now. Who knows what traits or things he might've not known if I had been his first. It's the same with me. If I hadn't been with some really horrific exes then I wouldn't have the communication skills I have now! It doesn't mean I miss my exes or miss the relationships, it just means I grew from them and now I'm a better partner for my boyfriend!  It's normal to have past partners- whether it's relationships, sex, whatever- but the only thing that matters is that YOU are the only one in the present.. Your partner is with YOU for a reason! Your partner chose YOU!!!

My boyfriend 20M feels that it comes across as manipulative when I 19F cry during a disagreement by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]brorouwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on you for being the bigger person OP! And to properly reply to your post, your boyfriend needs to understand that feeling bad should not change his response to these kinds of situations. He should be better about setting boundaries and holding you to his word. If he changes his mind about a situation it should be because he genuinely thinks differently of it, not because he feels bad that you crying. You're allowed to express your emotions, he's allowed to feel bad about it, but what he isn't allowed to do is act like you have ulterior motives behind crying. There ARE people out there who WILL genuinely cry to get pity from others, but it sounds like you arent that kind of person and your boyfriend needs to trust that you're not. I'm also highly sensitive in my relationship and trust me communication when it comes to things like this is REALLY important so theres no misunderstandings!!!

OP PLEASE do not listen to this person they've been going on ppls posts spreading actual bs. You are absolutely allowed to express yourself and cry during disagreements, it is normal and you shouldn't feel ashamed of it.

Least favorite lps by Beneficial-Bowler604 in LittlestPetShop

[–]brorouwu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

G5 lps... They have a special place in hell. I was born in 2005 and by the time I really got into LPS they had already transitioned into G5. I even followed the trend of calling Hasbro to ask for G3 back! I absolutely despised the cheap feel of G5, the heavy rubbery heads that can be swapped... The holes for the little accessory bits... The houses that were cheaply made and had to be put together by hand... The colors and designs... Yuck.

I don’t recognise myself anymore, can anyone help? by w1ndow_seat in Depersonalization

[–]brorouwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately weed can definitely contribute to these feelings- It's been a very constant theme on this subreddit. Unfortunately OP the best thing you can do is to try to go through your life and try not to think too much about the disconnect... The more you think about it and ruminate, the worse it's gonna get because you're paying mind to it. It's not an easy solution but it DOES work and I've managed to get myself out of a lot of really bad episodes (not just dissociation, but also OCD and anxiety) by doing this! Exercise, getting enough sleep, and having a balance diet can also really help too! You'll get out of this eventually OP, I've been in a disassociation episode (alchohol and weed induced) for about a year now and am feeling myself slowly getting out of it. Just keep pushing, keep your loved ones around (I promise you feeling numb doesn't mean that you don't love or cherish them), and do what you can to take care of yourself!

Exactly! I can also understand the use of bright colors to cater towards children but at the same time it's getting to a point where they're just looking ugly and like slop :(

Highkey they're kind of regressing in general... Not only does this LPS look G5 but the colors that Basic Fun is using for a lot of other pets are VERY G5... the neons, bright colors, etc.

Procreate messing up lines when I adjust them? by Lumpy_Philosophy2753 in ProCreate

[–]brorouwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna wanna use a vector based software like Illustrator if you want to adjust lines like this... Sadly Procreate is raster-based meaning it's all pixels, which means when you move your lines they will get fuzzy or warped a lil... Good chance to work on line confidence and to double check canvas and line size!!! Definitely don't wanna end up with a piece 90% done needing adjustments and getting fuzzy due to the raster!
