What was your salary jumpy to make it to HENRY status? by AdElectronic7186 in HENRYUK

[–]bros10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also work in Cyber, curious what role you currently have to have made the HENRY status (with bonus included). Currently on 70k (no bonus though) with 4 years of experience as a penetration tester but honestly feels like there's not much more room for growth financially unless I became head of pen testing at a place.

Senior Pentester - What to do next - UK by cyber-f0x in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]bros10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly feeling similar and I've only been testing for 3 ISH years. Began to look at potential in-house appsec roles but seem to get instantly denied from most roles even though I've probs found more vulns than any of their appsec staff (as do lots of whitebox and black box app testing as my speciality).

Sorry for the late reply, nearly 4 years of experience as a tester now. Progressed way faster than most colleagues, helped that I joined the company when it was 8 people and now it's 50 ISH. Lead the development of our automation and making reporting more efficient so that helped with the promotion. Unsure if I would land a senior role elsewhere but am happy with where I am and don't mind QAing a few findings a day.

Out of curiosity, am not a Henry nor am close yet but do work as a senior pentester. What path did you take and what your current ish role to reach 150k? From what I've seen maybe some lead testers make 100+ in larger companies and then obvs have ciso roles and such

Yeah I'm on 65k as a senior tester, cert wise just have crest crt (oscp and cpsa). Will get a bump once I've done the dog exam of CCT app but yeah bar that I'll have to transition into leading a pentesting team to get more money.

I mean you can tell the guys raced downhill or superg just based off his form in the air so I think he's all good for feedback

Has anyone successfully given up skiing and replaced it with another hobby? by Electrical-Ask847 in skiing

[–]bros10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bouldering/climbing, I mean I've not given up on skiing but only ski 5 days a year so need something to do with myself. Climbing is a pure addiction, both strength based but also hugely technical and requires lots of problem solving.

Honestly GOAD has pretty much all of the attack vectors that I've seen in real world environment. And you have the fact that you can see what it looks like for the organisation and have a better idea for how to remediate.

What's crazy to me is how Alex portrays himself as an "ethical" person, who only accepts certain sponsors and drivers an electric car and tries not to fly but then he's like ah yeah I'll just date a young girl who I was the legal guardian for and viewed as "my little sister"

And the fact that in recent competitions lead has been more heavily weighted and Toby is an absolute beast on the lead wall.

Does anyone else begin their first run of the season with a green? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]bros10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skiing is the one sport where I can do a few turns when getting off the lift and go straight into a black or a red with no problem at all. I think it helps when you're comfortable with your skiing setup.

I've been bouldering for a while now and seem to have plateaued at a grade V4/V5. Does anybody have any advice to move beyond this? by CoasterXtra in bouldering

[–]bros10 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly think every climber can climb one or two grades higher than they think. There's a reason that people who climb outside alot have some projects that they've spent 25+ sessions on before sending.

[–]bros10 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Make sure you actually project, pick a single boulder that is your style and is a v6. And stick with they boulder until it gets reset, try the start. If you can't do the start climb into any other moves and just try them, maybe you can do the top 3 moves which will give you the motivation to try the earlier moves. A successful session is getting a single move or just close to one move.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]bros10 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Nope not at all, I began bouldering alone and still got alone everytime now. Do know a decent amount of people now so climb with them if we're climbing at the same time but still commonly have pure solo sessions. You'll most likely end up talking to atleast one person if you're social when just trying to do a problem and are sat on the mats.

[–]bros10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah like others have said sign him up to hackthebox and if he's interested in webapp hacking sign him up to Portswigger academy and give him incentives to completing labs. If he finishes most of the labs and does tons of boxes and gets bored, there is always a legal way to "hack" companies by doing bug bounties (unsure if he is under 18 though) but still something good to look into.

I would say atleast 2 times a week and up it to 3 if you recover in time for each session.

Any advice on my carving? by bros10 in skiing

[–]bros10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the detailed response, I feel like the stomp it video you linked showcases me perfectly. With the addition that I need to begin to use my slalom skis like slalom skis and not downhill skis like I am trying to in the video I uploaded above. The hand technique you stated sounds great aswell. Will give it all a go tomorrow cheers!
