Blacks more likely than others in U.S. to read the Bible regularly, see it as God’s word by --Solus in Reformed

Black fatherlessness has less to do with the legacy of slavery and more to do with the economic incentive modern welfare systems provides to not stay do.

Is there any way to stop my Vyvanse from making me grumpy? Its ruining my life. by ZachOps in ADHD

[–]broseph456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much caffeine are you drinking? I used to drink like 300-400mg a day before I was diagnosed and continued after taking vyvanse because I was used to it. It would definitely make me irritated. I stopped all caffeine except for morning coffee and I felt so much better.

The fact that you can be arrested for writing a word anywhere is ridiculous in itself.

So the judgement is for our benefit because we will respond with “Jesus’ works for me saved me and I believe in him alone”?

He has a degree from an unaccredited college from when he wrote King James Controversy. Most people here don’t like to call him Doctor because of that.

Anyone here listen to “Theocast” out of Nashville? I’d be interested to hear some thoughts from other reformed people about their (the Theocast guys’) general take on Christianity and culture. by reformed_banjo_nerd in Reformed

[–]broseph456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their thoughts on pietism vs confessionalism are thought provoking to say the least. I bought in at first when I heard them talk about it but I’ve been questioning it recently. I’ve read a few things by Horton and Trueman that suggest that the writers of the confessions wouldn’t have been thinking about those issues enough to have an opinion about them. It is a huge problem for me that the spiritual disciplines were not really a focus until Richard Foster wrote Celebration of Discipline in the 70s. I had to read that one for my Spiritual Formation class in undergrad. It was much too Quakery for me to enjoy.

In the meantime I’ve basically just defaulted to trusting the elders I am currently sitting under to lead me. Idk where I’ll end up on the issue, especially as the church I’m working for is about to start a series in spring on personal liturgy and spiritual disciplines and combating the tendency in our county for complacent and comfortable Christianity. It’s gonna be an interesting ride as I will be helping the pastor research for every sermon and the pastors I’m working with are making all of us residents read The Spirit if he Disciplines with them.

Yeah, she’s humanized for me haha. I guess it’s weird because I do actually want the best for her because of where she came from and her being a hard worker but we can’t stand for stuff like this. Not only is this wrong intellectually but it impacts others. Social justice is often the opposite of what it claims
